The 28-year-old Nikita Scherbak, with a height of 1.88 meters and a weight of 87 kilograms, has a lot of North American experience - 37 NHL games and 200 AHL games - is considered a strong winger with a great overview, but is also dangerous in front of the goal. Scherbak has signed a contract in Villach for the coming season.

Nikita Scherbak: “Some friends have told me nothing but good things about Villach, the city and VSV. I'm already really excited and want to impress with strong performances and be successful together with the team!”

Joel Messner joins Fehérvár
Canadian Joel Messner will wear the jersey of Hydro Fehérvár AV19 in the coming season. Last season, the defenseman played for Pustertal (30 points). In the 2021/22 season, the 30-year-old was already active in the win2day ICE Hockey League with Innsbruck (35 points).

Joel Messner: “There are several reasons why I moved to Fehérvár. I've heard a lot of good things about the club and that the players feel comfortable here. They have a competitive team with a professional attitude, which I really like. Then of course there's the new arena, the CHL and many other things that make the team attractive to me. I spoke to Viktor Szélig, the team's general manager, earlier and was very impressed that some of the players have been with the team for a long time. That shows real loyalty and that they are thinking about a long-term project. I expect a very strong team next season and that we will play for the title. That is the ultimate goal.”

Salzburg extends with three home-grown players
Champion EC Red Bull Salzburg will continue to rely on Austrian home-grown players Paul Stapelfeldt, Philipp Wimmer and Lukas Hörl in the future. While Lukas Hörl signed a new contract, the other two defensemen still have an existing contract from last season.
