No less than nine games are scheduled in the Alps Hockey League on Saturday and Sunday. In terms of Playoff qualification, more decisions can be made. The HC Pustertal Wölfe will meet HDD SIJ Acroni Jesenice in the top clash and can fix the Playoff ticket in this game. But also with a defeat it can be enough for the South Tyroleans. A win is also enough for Jesenice to qualify. In the fight for the Pre-Playoffs, the EC Bregenzerwald, the VEU Feldkirch and the Wipptal Broncos Weihenstephan urgently need points, because the lead over the thirteenth place is melting. The only teams in double action this weekend are Migross Supermercati Asiago Hockey and the EC Bregenzerwald.

Table leader HK SZ Olimpija Ljubljana will play at the Red Bull Hockey Juniors on Saturday. The Slovenians celebrated a 4:2 derby win against HDD SIJ Acroni Jesenice on Wednesday. The CuYoung Bulls are in fifth place in the standings and continue to fight for the direct Playoff qualification. They are four points behind fourth-placed Migross Supermercati Asiago Hockey. Ljubljana is currently in greaf form with seven wins in a row. The Red Bull Hockey Juniors have been victorious in two of their last five games. The only duel of the season with Ljubljana was clearly won by RBJ (5:2). It was already their second win en suite over the Slovenians.

In a direct duel for the Pre-Playoffs, the SHC Fassa Falcons will meet the EC Bregenzerwald. The Italians are currently thirteenth in the table, but the gap to the tenth in the table from Vorarlberg is only five points. In addition, Fassa has played one game less than the ECB. Despite recent defeats, both teams are fully on course for the Pre-Playoffs, as the seventh-placed team (EHC - 46 points) faces the eighth-placed team (RIT - 40 points) in the standings. The most recent meeting between the two teams was narrowly won by the "Buam" 3:2-OT. It was already the tenth win in the eleventh AHL duel. Cortina Hafro, on the other hand, is in strong form. The sixth-placed team in the table won all of its last five games and is still fighting for the Top-4 and thus the direct Playoff qualification. The gap to fourth-placed Migross Supermercati Asiago Hockey is five points. In the first duel of the season, SGC prevailed with 6:4. In the final period, league top scorer Remy Giftopoulos (27 goals) made the difference with a brace.

The absolute top match will take place on Saturday between the second HC Pustertal Wölfe and the third HDD SIJ Acroni Jesenice. Both teams are separated by only one point. In addition, Jesenice has played two games less than the South Tyroleans. It is very likely that one of the two teams will clinch a playoff ticket in this match. Pustertal would need a win after overtime or shootout. Jesenice needs a victory after regular playing time. If the Red Bull Hockey Juniors and S.G. On Wednesday they lost against league leader HK SZ Olimpija Ljubljana with 2:4. It was only the second defeat out of the last ten games for the Slovenians. Pustertal already has a winning streak of six games. On Thursday they prevailed at the EHC Lustenau with 3:1. On January 14th, both teams faced each other for the first time this season. In that meeting, Jesenice managed a 4:2 home win. It was the second win in a row for JES over PUS. Before that, however, the South Tyroleans prevailed five times in a row.

Besides Steel Wings Linz, the EC Die Adler Stadtwerke Kitzbühel is the second team that no longer has a chance to qualifiy for the Pre-Playoffs. Migross Supermercati Asiago, on the other hand, is on its way to reach the Playoffs already after the Regular Season. The Italians are currently in fourth place with 56 points and are four points ahead of fifth-placed Red Bull Hockey Juniors with five games to go. In their last game on Thursday, ASH managed a 4:0 away win at the EC Bregenzerwald. Asiago is already back in action against the Vorarlberg team on Sunday at 6:30 pm. Before that, the 2018 AHL champions have to face Kitzbühel. The Tyroleans have been waiting for a win for five games. In the first duel of the season, Asiago managed a 4:2 away win. It was already their fourth consecutive win over the KEC. Overall, ASH leads in the H2H with 7:2.

In the first of two games on Sunday, the Wipptal Broncos Weihenstephan will face the EC-KAC II. The KA2 must win against the twelfth in the table to keep the already only realistic chance to make the Pre-Playoffs alive. The gap to WSV is eleven points, the Klagenfurt team can still get a maximum of twelve points. The Broncos, in turn, also need a win, as the SHC Fassa Falcons are lurking in thirteenth place. The lead over the "Falcons" is only three points. After last three defeats in a row, the Broncos could end the losing streak at the EC Die Adler Stadtwerke Kitzbühel on Thursday (6:4). Migross Supermercati Asiago Hockey and the EC Bregenzerwald are the only teams to play twice this weekend. On Saturday, Asiago hosts the EC Die Adler Stadtwerke Kitzbühel. Bregenzerwald will play at the SHC Fassa Falcons. ASH and ECB already faced each other this week on Thursday. Asiago kept the upper hand with 4:0 at the ECB. It was the ninth win in the eleventh AHL duel between the two teams.
