In the last few days numerous teams of the Alps Hockey League have signed new players or extended expiring contracts with players. In addition, the EC Bregenzerwald has completed its third test match. Against the EHC Basel the Vorarlberg side had to admit a narrowly defeat with 3:4-OT. In the next few days other teams will also start their preseason.

Pietroniro brothers transfer from Asiago to Cortina
After three seasons at Supermercati Migross Asiago Hockey, the brothers Chad and Phil Pietroniro transfer to Cortina Hafro Hockey. The greatest success of the two native Canadians at Asiago was winning the Alps Hockey League in the season 2017/18. Together the two brothers have 196 appearances for the Italians in the AHL.

Asiago in turn announced that with Francesco Forte, Cameron Ginnetti and Lorenzo Casetti, three players remain loyal to the club.



Wipptal signs two North Americans

The Wipptal Broncos Weihenstephan signed the Canadian Ryan Valentini and the American Trevor Gooch. Both players are strikers and will be active in Europe for the first time. Valentini is 23 years young and was last active in the Usports at the University of Guelph. The 25-year-old Gooch spent the last one and a half years with the Reading Royals in the ECHL.



Pustertal extended with four self-built players

The HC Pustertal Wölfe will start their ice training on August 31st. Goalkeeper Hannes Stoll, Markus Steinkasserer, Alex De Lorenzo Meo and Ivan Althuber will also be part of the training. The working papers could be extended with those four self-built players. Goalie Stoll will continue to be Colin Furlong's backup. The 18-year-old Steinkasserer gets the chance to fight for a place in the AHL. De Lorenzo Meo will already enter the fifth AHL season for PUS, for the 26-year-old Althuber it will even be the ninth season in the dress of the "Wolves". No longer part of the line-up in Pustertal will be Brandon McNally. The 28-year-old striker transfered to the Odense Bulldogs in Denmark.



Biondi and Zanet stay with Fassa

The SHC Fassa Falcons announced the contract renewals with Luca Biondi and Massimo Zanet. This will be the second season for the 18-year-old talent Biondi in the "Falcons" professional team. In his debut year, the striker was able to convince right away. In 42 games the Turin-born scored 16 points (6G/10A). The 22-year-old Zanet has been playing for Fassa since his youth, with the exception of one season. The right wing has so far played 135 games for the Italians in the AHL. The Bolzano-born scored 26 points (14G/12A).



Val Gardena and Steel Wings Linz bind talents for the coming season

The HC Gherdeina valgardena.it can also count on the three talents Paul Hofer (19), Tobias Moroder (18) and Leo Messner (17) in the coming season. In addition, the South Tyroleans announced their test game program. From September 16th, GHE will play twice against HC Pustertal and the Rittner Buam.

At the Steel Wings Linz two talents will also stay on board. Jonas Kail and Stefan Freunschlag will again wear the jersey of the Upper Austrians in the coming season.



EC-KAC II announces basic squad

The EC-KAC II will start the new AHL season again with Head Coach Kirk Furey and numerous young players. Among others the experienced players Markus Pirmann and striker Rok Kapel remain on board. The contracts have also been extended with defender Mark Kompain, strikers Simon and Valentin Hammerle as well as Valentin Ploner. In addition, numerous U-18 players will also be moving up to the AHL team. The KA2 also announced five test matches. The team from Klagenfurt will test against Jesenice and the Steel Wings Linz, among others.



Bregenzerwald loses against Basel

The EC Bregenzerwald played its third test match against the EHC Basel on Wednesday. As in the two previous games, the Vorarlberg side lost, but only narrowly with 3:4 after overtime. Against the Swiss third division team, the Wälder already took the lead with 2:0. Only one minute before the end of the second period the Swiss scored for the first time. In the end they went into extra time with a 3:3, in which the guests scored the decisive goal after 69 seconds. Already today, Friday, the ECB is in action again. Once again, Bregenzerwald is competing with a Swiss team, the GCK Lions. The game will be played in Küsnacht, starting at 20:00.

In terms of players, Bregenzerwald announced the contract extensions with Felix Beck, Felix Vonbun, Lulian Metzler, Panu Hyyppä, Felix Zipperle and Daniel Ban. The ECB also announced that last year's captain Jürgen Fussenegger and Christian Haidinger ended their careers.



Kitzbühel, Red Bull Juniors and Jesenice start preseason

On Sunday, 30.08. the next three teams, EC Die Adler Stadtwerke Kitzbühel, Red Bull Hockey Juniors and HDD SIJ Acroni Jesenice, will start their preseason. Kitzbühel and the Hockey Juniors will meet in a direct duel (30.08. at 18:00). The Slovenian representative Jesenice faces the EC VSV from the bet-at-home ICE Hockey League in Villach (30.08. at 17:30).
