Olimpija Ljubljana reclaimed the top spot in the win2day ICE Hockey League standings in Round 21, overtaking the idle HC Falkensteiner Pustertal. Their turnaround win against EC iDM Wärmepumpen VSV made it possible. The EC-KAC also managed to rally, overcoming a temporary 1–2 deficit against the Vienna Capitals. Home wins were recorded by EC Red Bull Salzburg, HCB Südtirol Alperia and Hydro Fehérvár AV19, who stood firm against the strong pressure applied by the Moser Medical Graz99ers. FTC-Telekom, meanwhile, picked up a road victory in Innsbruck.

Ljubljana rallies in Villach and climbs to the top
With HC Falkensteiner Pustertal idle on Friday, Olimpija Ljubljana had the opportunity to move into first place with a win. After a scoreless opening frame, it was the hosts from Villach who struck first through Kevin Hancock. The visitors responded by shifting gears and scoring three times within eight minutes, courtesy of Nicolai Meyer, Žiga Mehle and Žiga Pance. Hancock added his second of the night in the final period to pull the Eagles back within one, but despite late pressure, the VSV were unable to force overtime.

KAC shows patience in win over Vienna
EC-KAC earned a 4–2 victory over the Vienna Capitals on Friday night. Although the Klagenfurt side opened the scoring in the first period, they briefly found themselves trailing in the middle frame. Simon Bourque and Randy Gazzola turned the score in favour of the Capitals. KAC, however, stayed patient, continued to control the game and eventually turned it around through goals by Finn van Ee and Mathias From. Thomas Hundertpfund sealed the deal with his second goal of the evening. With this win, Klagenfurt reclaimed third place from the Moser Medical Graz99ers.

Salzburg with a controlled performance against Linz
EC Red Bull Salzburg carried their Champions Hockey League momentum into their home game against the Steinbach Black Wings Linz and delivered a controlled performance. In an otherwise balanced contest, the reigning four-time champions were far more efficient. Benjamin Nissner, celebrating his 500th win2day ICE Hockey League appearance, opened the scoring. Thomas Raffl doubled the lead shortly after. Devante Stephens added a shorthanded tally in the second period to put the game out of reach, with Salzburg ultimately securing a 4–0 win. With this result, they moved past EC iDM Wärmepumpen VSV into sixth place.

Fehérvár ends Graz99ers’ streak
Although the Graz99ers’ new head coach had already arrived in town, it was still Philipp Pinter who directed the team behind the bench this weekend. Hydro Fehérvár AV19, on the other hand, already had new head coach Ted Dent in place — and he seemed to have his team well prepared. After a scoreless first period with a slight advantage in chances for the visitors, the Hungarian hosts proved efficient and went ahead 2–0 in the second frame. Graz ramped up the pressure in the final period, and Marcus Vela cut the deficit with 37 seconds left. However, AVS goaltender Rasmus Reijola held strong to secure all three points for Fehérvár.

FTC-Telekom earns road win in Innsbruck
FTC-Telekom Budapest celebrated a 3–1 road victory in Innsbruck, keeping pace with the teams in the top six. The visitors had the more efficient start and, despite a clear chance advantage for Innsbruck, took a 2–0 lead into the first intermission. Emmett Sproule brought the hosts back within one during the second period, but their momentum was quickly stopped by Aku Kestila’s 3–1 marker.

Bozen claims clear win over Pioneers
HCB Südtirol Alperia lived up to their role as favourites in their matchup against the Pioneers Vorarlberg, earning a convincing 7–1 win. The hosts allowed their opponents very little from the outset. Dustin Gazley opened the scoring in the first minute, and Brett Pollock doubled the lead soon after. The Pioneers responded with a goal in the middle frame, but from then on, Bozen controlled the action. In total, seven different HCB players found the back of the net.
