Olimpija secures first place I Capitals with surprise win

On Tuesday leader HK SŽ Olimpija took revenge on EC Bregenzerwald for a defeat in the first season meeting. With a 7:2 home win the Slovenes also secured the first place after regular season. In the second game of the night Vienna Capitals Silver earned a 5:4 shootout win against 4th-placed Hafro Cortina Hockey with Henrik Neubauer scoring three goals.

Bregenzerwald took an early lead in Ljubljana with Johan Lorraine scoring on power play. Soon after the Slovenes upped the tempo but the visitors did well defensively. Gal Koren tied it before the intermission but after 31 minutes the visitors retook the lead with another pp goal. This time Olimpija really took over command and scored three goals from Cepon, Ropret and Logar just within four minutes to turn the game around. Stefan Söder missed Bregenzerwald's only big chance to bounce back. In the third the hosts added three more unanswered goals for a 7:2 home win. With their 11th successive win, the Slovenes also secured the first place after regular season. Bregenzerwald will continue their road trip in Klagenfurt on Wednesday.

Caps road win thanks to three Neubauer goals
The Vienna Capitals Silver celebrated their sixth win on Tuesday. Henrik Neubauer opened the scoring early in the game. After the equalizer from Giftopoulos, Vienna retook the lead thanks to a Löfquist goal. Despite outshooting their opponent 17:7 in the first, Cortina was trailing 1:2. In the middle frame Cortina turned the game to their favour with scoring two goals within three minutes. 58 seconds before the end of the second Maxa scored the equalizer for Vienna. In the third Neubauer responded to a Moser goal and forced overtime with the game being tied at four. After a goalless extra session, Neubauer became the hero in shootout.
