Alexander Maxa (#77) of EC Bregenzerwald time 13:42, was involved in an incident deemed as Fighting (IIHF Rule 141). According to the Arbitrator and having considered the video evidence , player Alexander Maxa (#77) of EC Bregenzerwald, will receive supplementary discipline under rule 141 – Fighting.

On November 28th in Dornbirn, an incident occurred involving Bregenzerwald player #77 Alexander Maxa, which is deemed fighting.

As the video shows, Linz player #81 Jonas Kail checks a Bregenzerwald player with an illegal check, deemed as kneeing. With the Referee in close proximity to the check, it is highly visible that the Referee has a delayed penalty. #77 Alexander Maxa made an unimpeded choice to immediately skates towards #81 Kail to engage in a pushing action. The pushing action in of itself, is not overly aggressive or worthy of any form of suspension. However, the push did lead to a fight which is worthy of a suspension.

Considering all teams have been told, fighting, roughing and altercations have been clearly defined for supplementary discipline purposes and there is no reason for this type of physical actions. The fact that game officials are not to enter altercations, fighting is banned and a fight puts multiple people at risk under Covid-19 conditions, supplementary discipline is required.

It was taken into consideration that #77 Maxa, did leave his gloves on and did not escalate the situation to a more serious incident then what it was. The supplementary discipline will remain at the automatic 1 game suspension threshold.

Effective immediately, Alexander Maxa (#77) of EC Bregenzerwald is suspended for 1 game.
