One Game suspension for Gasper Korosec

Gasper Korosec (#21) of the HDD SIJ Acroni Jesenice, time 37:42, made contact with an opponent deemed as a Check to the Head or Neck, IIHF Rule 124. The video evidence was sent to the AHL Player Safety Committee (PSC), which determined the incident to be worthy of supplementary discipline - Category 1 –‘Careless’ – insufficient attention or thought to avoid harm or error. Liable to happen as a consequence of, by intending to affect an opponent through a reactionary or accidental motion or the incident is deemed careless causing negligence.

According to the Arbitrator and having considered the video evidence and ruling of the AHL PSC, player Gasper Korosec (#21) of the HDD SIJ Acroni Jesenice, will receive supplementary discipline under rule 124 – Checking to the Head or Neck.

On Thursday, October 24th, (#21) Gasper Korosec of the HDD SIJ Acroni Jesenice, was involved in an incident deemed as a check to the head. With the puck being rimmed around the boards by the opposing team goalie, a player of Jesenice attempted
to play the puck off the boards. In doing so, the Jesenice player created the puck to travel towards open ice.This created a broken play in which the opposing player was skating to gain puck possession. With the opposing player being a left hand shot and gathering the puck from his left side, he was puck focused and unaware of his right side. Skating from the opposing players right side and with no regard for the puck, (#21) Gasper Korosec cuts lightly to his left to make a body check. In making the body check, the 1st point of contact was to the opposing players head. The head contact is deemed avoidable. It has been determined and conclusive that the head contact was the primary contact with body to body contact as a secondary action. It is also considered unsuspecting, with the opposing player having no opportunity to protect himself. There was no reported injury from the check.

Effective immediately, (#21) Gasper Korosec is suspended for 1 game.
