Niklas Andre Würschl (#73) of EC-KAC, time 26:14 was involved in an incident deemed as Kneeing (IIHF Rule 50). The video evidence was sent to the bet-at-home ICE Hockey League PSC, which determined the incident to be worthy of supplementary discipline - Category 1 - 'Careless'.

According to the Arbitrator and having considered the video evidence and ruling of the bet-at-home ICE Hockey League PSC, Niklas Andre Würschl (#73) of EC-KAC, will receive supplementary discipline under rule 50 – Kneeing. Sunday evening in Klagenfurt, KAC D'Man - #73 Niklas Würschl was assessed a penalty for kneeing ZNO player #34 Vladimir Oscadal.

As the video shows, immediately following a neutral zone KAC giveaway, Oscadal gains puck possession and reverse's up ice, towards the ZNO attacking zone. Würschl as a D'Man, steps up from his position to challenge Oscadal. Seeing Würschl approaching, Oscadal makes a pass up ice, while maintaining his right movement skating lane to avoid the on coming contact. Würschl realizing he has no play on the puck, maintains his skating lane through the hit and extends his left leg out, to make sure he gets a piece of Oscadal and slow him down. This results in a direct leg on leg contact and dangerous situation. Although it appears Oscadal did not receive an injury deemed serious and was able to return to play, the potential to cause injury is apparent.

It is important to note, it is not Oscadal that causes the unavoidable contact. Würschl approaches Oscadal with a wide stance, which is common as a natural checking motion. However, in consideration for the wide stance, when Oscadal makes his move, Würschl has an option to alter his skating lane or make a body to body check. Instead, Würschl only adjusted his left leg, through a further extension. Although slight, it ensures leg on leg contact did occur.

The incident was sent to the ICEHL PSC and determined the kneeing is a 'careless' act, which is considered as an insufficient attention or thought to avoid harm or error. The knee is considered as a consequence of; by intending to affect an opponent through a reactionary or accidental motion and the incident is deemed careless causing negligence.
