On Saturday the Vorarlberg Derby between VEU Feldkirch and EHC Alge Elastic Lustenau is the only scheduled game this weekend. Both teams play for consolidate their top-4 position in standings. 

Besides, Migross Supermercati Asiago Hockey hired its third headcoach this season. Ron Ivany takes over the reigning champion. Further, EK “Die Zeller” Eisbären parted ways with their headcoach Diter Werfring.

During the first international break of the current season in Alps Hockey League, only the Vorarlberg Derby between VEU Feldkirch and EHC Alge Elastic Lustenau is on schedule. Both teams are currently placed in the top 4 of the table. Leagues runner-up Lustenau gained ten wins so far, Feldkirch is ranked fourth. The hosts, who are back in front of their home crowed after almost three weeks, have the chance to overtake the second position in standings. They won four of five home games so far and celebrated two clear road wins last weekend. On the other hand, Lustenau showed its strength at away games: In seven road games they were only defeated by the reigning champion Asiago and the undefeated leader Pustertal. The last two duels went to Lustenau. Before that, Feldkirch won four games in a row. 

New headcoach in Asiago, Zell am See released Dieter Werfring

During the first international break Migross Supermercati Asiago Hockey replaced its headcoach again. Ron Ivany took over from Scott Beattie, who was only a few weeks representing Asiago Hockey. Ivany signed a contract until the end of the season. While coaching Fassa Falcons back in 16/17, the 69-year old Canadian collected experience in Alps Hockey League. Further, he was headcoach of the Italian national team and worked in Austria and Germany too.

Besides, EK “Die Zeller” Eisbären parted ways with their headcoach Dieter Werfring, who worked for the polar bears for more than two years. By the middle of next week, the Austrian side wants to present a new coach.
