One player drawing particular attention in the current Pioneers lineup is 25-year-old Canadian Eric Florchuk. The center is playing his first season in European professional hockey and most recently scored his first goal in the win2day ICE Hockey League in Ljubljana. Despite the four losses, Florchuk remains confident in his team: “The confidence is still high in the in the room. I think the big thing is just playing a full 60. We've had two good starts last two games and just kind of take a lull in the second and cost us. .”

As the only team in the league, Feldkirch is still without a point after a difficult start. On Friday evening (7:30 p.m., livestream on sporteurope.tv), Head Coach Johannes Nygård’s side wants to secure its first points against the Vienna Capitals with the support of their home fans. Last season, Feldkirch managed to win all four head-to-head matchups against Vienna. “We're so hungry for those first points and every game matters now going forward and I think just focusing on ourselves will be the biggest thing,” says Florchuk, for whom this first professional season also means an important personal step: “It's good. It's coming along. Taking some steps going forward the last few games and I just got to keep continue building and growing.”
