Preseason defeats for Villach and Vienna

The EC iDM Wärmepumpen VSV lost the last preseason match before their start in the Champions Hockey League on September 2nd against the Norwegian champion Stavanger Oilers clearly with 2:5. The spusu Vienna Capitals had to accept a clearly closer defeat at the Czech top club Mountfield HK (2:3).

In the Stadthalle Villach it took until the eighth minute of the game before the Stavanger Oilers took a 1:0 lead. Only about eight minutes later Villach managed to answer. New signing Robert Sabolic scored after an assist from Marco Richter to make it 1:1. No further goals were scored in the opening period. In the middle period, it took another eight minutes before the reigning Norwegian champions took the lead again. This time, however, the "Eagles" did not succeed in answering, but Stavanger increased to 3:1 twelve minutes before the end of the game. Just three minutes later, the guests put the score to 4:1. Just under three minutes before the end of the game, Robert Sabolic scored again to make it 2:4 from the "Eagles" point of view. But the last goal of the evening was scored by the Norwegians. For Villach it was the third defeat in the fourth test match. The Carinthians will not play any more preparation games. Because already next week Friday, September 2nd they start the adventure Champions Hockey League. First opponent is away from home Färjestad Karlstad.

The spusu Vienna Capitals were defeated in the third game of the preparation at the Czech top club Mountfield HK with 2:3. Armin Preiser put the Vienna Capitals in front after a counterattack together with Nico Brunner, but before the first period Lev could equalize with a goal in the powerplay. At the beginning of the middle period, the home side scored twice within 53 seconds to go ahead with 3:1. Nico Brunner, who had set up the opening goal for the Caps, scored himself in the middle period. In the final period, there were no more goals on either side. Thats why the Caps suffered their second defeat in the preseason.
