HC Pustertal Wölfe – FBI VEU Feldkirch 3:1 (0:0; 2:1; 1:0)
For the sixth game between Val Pusteria and Feldkirch, the home team couldn’t field Armin Hofer who was suspended for two games after the fifth match. Nick Bruneteau returned to play after missing the fifth game while the goalkeeper was always Alexander Kinkelin. Dylan Stanley was always absent from Austrian team. In the first period the two teams were very careful as they played with a lot of tactics. Each formation tried to break the game of the other: few occasions and goalkeepers not very solicited. The Bruneck rejected the only powerplay of the opponents while Andergassen was anticipated on goal by an intervention of Alex Caffi. In the second period the things changed decisively. Pustertal took a double advantage after 25 minutes of play. In just 39 seconds the Wolves achieved first with Max Oberrauch, scrum under the net, and then with Armin Helfer, shooting diagonally under the crossbar. This goal has been validated after video replays. But Feldkirch halved his disadvantage after a mistake by home team: Daniel Winzig created the first goal of the visitors (33.). From this moment the Austrian formation took control of the game. The Bruneck closed in breathlessness the second period but always ahead for 2: 1. The Feldkirch played the first two minutes of the third time in superiority but then took three penalties. The home team preferred to manage the various situations of powerplay. Every puck was very heavy and the teams didn’t want to take risks. Great half-time opportunity for Oberrauch who didn’t finalize at the end of a solitary run. The game run off until the final minutes with the Pusteral trying to control the situation. Sean Ringrose scored an empty goal (58.) that allowed Bruneck to go into the semi-finals. The Wolves won game 6 for 3: 1 as they earned the series for 4: 2. The Pustertal will meet the Asiago Hockey in the semi-finals.
