Pustertal win top matchup
In the battle between defending champion EC Red Bull Salzburg and league leaders HC Falkensteiner Pustertal, the South Tyroleans skated to a 5:3 victory. Greg Di Tomaso opened the scoring early for the visitors before Michael Raffl tied the game. Pustertal, however, quickly regained the lead. Raffl’s second of the night evened things up again in the middle frame, but the Wolves answered short-handed through Christian Bardreau. The titleholders tied it once more, but Bardreau and Ierullo each netted their second goals of the night to seal the win. With the victory, Pustertal extended their lead atop the standings to three points.

Linz bounce back with dominant win
After a difficult start to the season, the Steinbach Black Wings Linz made a strong statement. Following their overtime win against Graz earlier in the weekend, the Upper Austrians followed up with a commanding 7:1 victory over Hydro Fehérvár AV19. Linz came out flying, jumping to a 5:0 lead after the opening period. Brian Lebler added a powerplay marker in the second before Fehérvár got on the board. Linz remained in full control for the rest of the night. With five points collected over the weekend, Head Coach Philipp Lukas’ squad doubled their total points tally.

Olimpija take shootout thriller in Klagenfurt
HK Olimpija Ljubljana edged EC-KAC 4:3 in a shootout in the ORF live game. In front of a sold-out crowd, the hosts struck first through Thomas Hundertpfund. The Dragons responded with a goal from Marcel Mahkovec before 18-year-old David Waschnig restored Klagenfurt’s lead in the middle frame – his first ever goal in the win2day ICE Hockey League. In the final period, Boychuk tied the game again. The Red Jackets went ahead short-handed late in regulation, but Olimpija hit right back on the ensuing powerplay. After a scoreless overtime, the Slovenians converted the decisive attempt in the shootout. Olimpija remain second in the standings, two points behind Pustertal, while KAC’s five-game winning streak came to an end.

Bolzano earn shootout win
HCB Südtirol Alperia earned a hard-fought 5:4 shootout victory on the road at FTC-Telekom. The Foxes opened the scoring late in the first period on the powerplay, but Budapest turned the game around to take a 3:1 lead. Bolzano tied things up before the second intermission. In the third, Brady Shaw scored his second of the night for FTC, but Luca Frigo also netted his second to send the game to overtime. In the shootout, the South Tyroleans claimed the extra point.

Graz start Pinter era with convincing win
In their first game under interim head coach Philipp Pinter, the Moser Medical Graz99ers earned a 4:1 home win over the Pioneers Vorarlberg. Paul Huber and Nico Brunner – who recorded his first point as a 99er – gave the hosts an early 2:0 lead. Matej Vela added another on the powerplay. After the visitors pulled one back, Jackson Currie sealed the deal late in regulation. With the win, Graz moved up to fourth place in the standings.
