On Saturday the Austrian clash between EHC Alge Elastic Lustenau and EC KAC II opens 19th round in Alps Hockey League. Despite suffering a 1:2 overtime loss in Sterzing on Thursday, Lustenau is still the first chaser of unbeaten leader HC Pustertal Wolves. The stickers celebrated a shutout-win in their last home game against Ljubljana. They had a shutout in the first season meeting with EC KAC II too (5:0). The Carinthians are still bottom-last, but they proved morality past game against Ritten. Lustenau won all five past games against the EC KAC, making six goals each game on average.

One of two Austrian derbies will take place in Salzburg. The Red Bull Hockey Juniors hit the road while facing EK Die Zeller Eisbären. After Greg Holst took over the polar bears, they gained eight points out of the last three games and are currently ranked 11th. With a 2:5 defeat at Pustertal the Red Bulls dropped to 5th place in standings, but they are still the best team on power play occasions (17 goals in 60 power plays | 28,3%). After a well-played second period, the guests won the first season meeting 6:2. It was Red Bulls second consecutive win against the polar bears, who had three wins in a row before.

On Saturday there will be a Vorarlberg-Derby too. The EC Bregenzerwald hosts the VEU Feldkirch. While EC Bregenzerwald beat Fassa past gameday, the VEU Feldkirch secured a clear road win against HC Gherdeina, which gave the guests third spot in standings. The home team is currently ranked 14th. In their last meeting, VEU Feldkirch booked a 6:3 win thanks to an awesome first period. Robin Soudek, who had at least one point in the last five games for Feldkirch, had four points in the first duel with Bregenzerwald of the season. With 36 points each, Soudek and Dylan Stanley lead the points statistic in Alps Hockey League. In their past seven meetings, the VEU won six games with only ECB getting one home win after overtime.

The EC „Die Adler“ Stadtwerke Kitzbühel welcomes HDD SIJ Acroni Jesenice, who is the only team having two games this weekend. The Austrian side suffered a harsh 3:6-defeat at Milano past game day and lost four of the last five games. Jesenice has shown an upward trend with winning the last three games. After getting a 5:2 win against the Red Bull Hockey Juniors past game day, the unbeaten leader faces HC Gherdeina valgardena.it. Gröden struggles with its special teams, while getting only 15 goals out of 101 power play occasions. Pustertal won all past five games and got two shutout wins too.

After winning six consecutive games, the Rittner Buam currently holds the second longest winning streak of all teams in Alps Hockey Leauge. On Saturday the reigning champions crosses sticks with S.G. Cortina Hafro. Coritina’s form curve points upwards as they gained six points out of nine possible in the past three games, including a huge win against champion Asiago. Ritten has the league’s second-best penalty killing available with only nine goals against in 73 shorthanded situations. These teams faced each other for 11 times in the past. Ritten took nine wins.

Second last in standings HC Fassa Falcons hosts Wipptal Broncos Weihenstephan. The “falcons” are still looking for their first home win after regular time this season. They only had one shootout-win against EC Bregenzerwald in this year home games. Their next opponent has shown an upward trend with winning the last three games, but they need to catch up for making the interim pre playoff spot more save. The Broncos celebrated two huge wins in the past two meetings with Fassa (8:1 and 9:1).

Reigning champion Migross Supermercati Asiago Hockey crosses sticks with Hockey Milano Rossoblu. The redblues had a feeling of success past game day, while taking a 6:3 home win against Kitzbühel thanks to a strong opening frame. It was Milanos first win after four consecutive losses. Asiago gained a clear 6:1 road win at bottom-placed team EC KAC II, which gave them 7th spot in standings. The hosts won the first season meeting 3:0.
Sun, 25.11.2018, 17.30: HK SZ Olimpija – HDD SIJ Acroni Jesenice

On Sunday the Slovenian derby between HK SZ Olimpija and HDD SIJ Acroni Jesenice will round off a weekend full of hockey action. While Ljubljana had its last game one week ago, Jesenice playes at Kitzbühel on Saturday. The “dragons” ended their losing streak past game day as they took a 4:2 road win against Feldkirch. Before, they had four losses in a row. The first Slovenian derby of the season was won by Olimpija 4:0.
