The native of Villach, who stormed seven years in the jersey of Red Bull Salzburg and celebrated two championship titles, now returns to his home Villach after a short guest appearance in Sweden.
Alexander Rauchenwald, cousin of Thomas and Michael Raffl, learned to play hockey at his hometown club VSV. In 2011, he made his debut as a 17-year-old in a test game against ATSE Graz in the VSV fighting team and also scored his first goal right away. After making twelve appearances the following season, he was signed to a professional contract. He then moved to Salzburg in the 2014/15 season, where he played 355 league games and scored 65 goals in the following seven seasons.

Rob Daum, head coach EC Grand Immo VSV: "Already in the summer we managed to sign some strong Austrian players. With Alexander Rauchenwald, a very special opportunity has now arisen and we have seized the chance. He is one of the best Austrian centers and has already celebrated some great successes in his career. He will make our team much better with his qualities."
