Release from 10.09.2022
Red Bull Hockey Juniors are the first league leaders of the new Alps Hockey League season. Five games were on the schedule on Saturday, the opening day. SHC Fassa Falcons - Red Bull Hockey Juniors 1:5 (0:2,0:1,1:2)
Red Bull Hockey Juniors won the first match of the Alps Hockey League season against SHC Fassa Falcons. In the duel of the two pre-playoffs participants from last season, the young Austrians prevailed with a commanding 5:1 in Fassa. Philipp Krening scored the first goal of the new campaign when the season was just over 100 seconds old. The guests dominated the encounter for the entire game. No less than ten players without AHL experience were in the squad of Salzburg coach Teemu Levijoki. With Julius Sumpf, Vadim Schreiner, Timo Ruckdäschel and Lars Bosecker also four cracks born in 2005. With this success the Juniors are the first league leader of the new season.
HDD SIJ Acroni Jesenice - S.G. Cortina Hafro 4:0 (1:0,2:0,1:0)
Vice-champion HDD SIJ Acroni Jesenice started as usual strong into the new season of the Alps Hockey League. With the same core team as last season, the Slovenians celebrated an unchallenged 4-0 victory over S.G. Cortina Hafro. Late in the first period Eric Pance opened the scoring. A double strike in the second period already brought the preliminary decision, before Pance made his brace perfect in the final period. Last season's quarterfinalist will have to wait further for his first goal in the new season.
EK Die Zeller Eisbären - EC-KAC Future Team 5:2 (2:1,1:0,2:1)
EK Die Zeller Eisbären decided the only Austrian duel of the opening day in their favor. After the two teams already met in the preseason - the Polar Bears won 5:1 then - the Salzburgers repeated the success and prevailed 5:2 this time against the KAC Future Team. Already in the first period the hosts took a 2:0 lead, before Klagenfurt managed to score the equalizer in the same period. Zell, however, did not let the KAC come close again and finally prevailed in a commanding manner. Henrik Neubauer scored a brace.
HC Gherdeina valgardena.it - Steel Wings Linz 3:1 (1:1,1:0,1:0)
HC Gherdeina valgardena.it recorded a 3:1 win over Steel Wings Linz in their opener. The hosts took an early lead, but the Linz team managed to equalize before the end of the first period. In the middle third, Max Oberrauch put his team ahead again. Gherdeina goalie Colin Furlong and the Gherdeina defense did not allow another goal. The "Furie" finally made the final score of 3:1 through an emptynetter.
Wipptal Broncos Weihenstephan - Rittner Buam 2:4 (1:1,1:0,1:0)
The Rittner Buam won the opening game in the South Tyrolean duel against Sterzing 4:2. With this, the premiere champion of the Alps Hockey League succeeded in taking revenge at the right time, as they had to face their last test a few days ago, in which WSV prevailed 3:2. After the first two thirds of the first game of the season between the two teams, Ritten was already leading 4:1. Despite the deficit, the Broncos never gave up in the final third and made the Rittner Buam, who had switched down a gear offensively, sweat again and again. Hayden Hawkey was able to prove himself again and again in the box of the Blue-Red. In the 50th minute, however, he had to admit defeat when Davide Conci was right on target in the slot during the overtime period and converted a save from Hawkey in the net. For more it was not enough from the point of view of the Broncos.
