Red Bull Hockey Juniors back on top

The Red Bull Hockey Juniors claimed a 4:3 win in the top clash against Adler Stadtwerke Kitzbühel to move back to the top of the standings. Hockey Unterland Cavaliers and HC Meran/o caused surprises with victories over Cortina and Ritten respectively. In addition, the Broncos, Zell and Asiago also celebrated wins, with the latter prevailing in overtime.

Red Bull Hockey Juniors win top clash against Kitzbühel
The Red Bull Hockey Juniors claimed a hard-fought 4:3 win in the top clash against Kitzbühel. The Juniors took the lead on home ice in the fifth minute of the game. Kitzbühel turned the game around later in the opening period and headed into the first intermission with a 2:1 lead. In the middle frame, the Juniors first equalised before Kitzbühel regained the lead once again. However, the young Salzburg side managed to respond once more before the second break. In the final period, Florian Lanzinger eventually netted the decisive goal to secure both the win and the top spot in the standings for the Red Bull Hockey Juniors.

40 strong minutes enough for Broncos victory
Wipptal Broncos Weihenstephan celebrated a 4:3 win over HDD Jesenice. The hosts were already leading 4:0 after 40 minutes of play. In the final period, the visitors from Slovenia mounted a comeback, scoring three goals within ten minutes to close the gap to 3:4. However, Jesenice were unable to find the equaliser. With this victory, Wipptal are back within reach of the top five.

Merano upset Ritten
HC Meran caused an upset with a win over Rittner Buam SkyAlps. The South Tyroleans, ranked eleventh, defeated Ritten 2:1 on the road. After a scoreless opening period, Jakob Fuchs gave Meran the lead in the middle frame. Meran defended their advantage well thereafter and sealed the win with an empty-net goal just over one minute before the final buzzer. Ritten managed to score a late goal, but there was not enough time left to force overtime.

Zell stay within striking distance of the top duo
EK Die Zeller Eisbären secured a 4:2 home win against EC Bregenzerwald. The visitors from Vorarlberg, however, got off to the better start and took a 2:0 lead into the first intermission. In the middle period, Zell shifted up a gear and scored four goals within ten minutes – three on the powerplay and one while shorthanded.

Asiago edge Gherdeina in overtime
HC Migross Asiago recorded a 3:2 overtime victory at home against Hockey Club Gherdeina. The visitors had the better start and opened the scoring in the second minute. In the middle period, Asiago turned the game around to take a 2:1 lead. Gherdeina forced overtime, but Ryan Valentini decided the game with his second goal of the night.

Hockey Unterland Cavaliers end losing streak
After five consecutive defeats, the Hockey Unterland Cavaliers returned to winning ways. Cortina controlled large parts of the game early on, but it was the visitors who scored first. The score was tied at 2:2 after the opening period. Unterland regained the lead in the second period, before Cortina equalised four minutes from the end. With most expecting overtime, Alexander Sullmann Pilser scored the game-winning goal late on.
