Both teams had suffered a defeat before the IIHF break and were now looking to get back to winning ways. Cortina took the lead in the 16th minute through Gregory Di Tomaso, who scored his fifth goal of the season. But then the visitors from Salzburg came up trumps, as Paul Lemke (30.) scored his debut goal, Jesse Helander (33./PP1) and Daniel Assavolyuk (39.) followed up in the middle frame to give Salzburg a deserved advantage after 40 minutes. Lukas Hörl (52.) then added another goal for the visitors before Cortina launched a final offensive: Lacedelli (56.) and Carozza (57.) lit the lamp within 47 seconds, but Cortina were unable to equalize. Salzburg managed to move up to sixth place, the Italians remain fifth.
