Erste Bank Eishockey Liga, 23rd round:

Tue, 29.01.2019: EC Red Bull Salzburg vs. KHL Medvescak Zagreb 13:0 (5:0, 3:0, 5:0)
Referees: K. NIKOLIC, OFNER, Kontschieder, Tschrepitsch. Spectators: 1.511

The Red Bulls hosted the bears – due to traffic reason they arrived late in Salzburg – in Tuesday’s lone Erste Bank Eishockey Liga game and got off a perfect start. In the third minute Florian Baltram opened the scoring for the hosts. Alexander Rauchenwald doubled the lead not even 1,5 minutes later and Brant Harris made it more comfortable 41 seconds later. Two goals of John Hughes and Dustin Gazley rounded off the scoring in the first, in which Salzburg was dominating on both ends. In the end of the first Zagreb’s goalie Vito Nikolic showed two amazing saves. With his second goal of the night Hughes got last year’s semifinalist on the scoreboard again in the middle frame, giving the hosts a 6:0 lead after 24,5 minutes. After Mario Huber and Gazley increased the lead for the hosts with two more goals, Lukas Herzog managed to keep his clean sheet with a huge save against Filip Jarcov. While Jarcov had two more chances at the beginning of the second, it was all Salzburg again. The home team netted five more goals to equal Vienna’s highest Erste Bank Eishockey Liga victory ever.

Goals RBS: Baltram (3., 48.), Rauchenwald (5., 50.), Harris (5.), Hughes (15., 25.), Gazley (17., 31., 46.), Huber (30., 57.), Regner (47.)
