Ritten and Feldkirch tie series

In the second round of the Quarter Finals the Rittner Buam and the VEU Feldkirch succeeded in tying the serie. Asiago and Jesenice captured a 2:0 lead. Jesenice scored the decisive goal in the 76th minute in the Derby against Ljubljana.

Red Bull Hockey Juniors – Rittner Buam 0:2 (0:1, 0:1, 0:0)
The acting champ of Ritten lost the first game of the series and started highly motivated to tie the series. The guests created some good chances in the first minutes. In the 10ths minute the host pressured Patrick Killeen. Daniel Wachter missed the big chance for the lead. Good chances for both teams in the opening period. With 50 seconds to go Thomas Spinell scored for the lead for the “Buam”. Both teams fought in the second period for every centimeter. Ritten already celebrated the 2:0, but the goal came out of the anchoring before the puck crossed the line. So the referees decided for “no goal”. The Juniors didn’t capitalize from a powerplay in directly after that Alex Frei increased the lead for Ritten. Julian Klöckl had a good chance to narrow the gap in the 39th minute, but Killeen saved. In the final period Juniors Goalie Fießinger lost his stick and guarded the goal with a stick of a player. The Buam controlled the attacks of the Red Bull Hockey Juniors with solid defense. The Juniors still created a couple of good chances but didnÄt succeed anymore. Ritten tied the series. 

HKO Olimpija Ljubljana – HDD SIJ Acroni Jesenice 2.3 OT (1:0, 1:1, 0:1, 0:1)
Ljubljana started with high pressure and succeeded with the early goal in the first minute. Crt Snoj found Miha Pesjak who scored the 1:0 after only 57 seconds. Both teams focused on defense in the following minutes and neutralized the attacks of the opponents. In the second period it needed nine minutes till the fans celebrated the second goal of the night. Andrej Hebar doubled the lead in the 29th minute after assist of Zajc. Jesenice had the perfect answer and narrowed the gap only 20 seconds later. Defender Aleksandar Magovac scored the 1:2. In the final period Luka Basic succeeded with the equalizer in the 48th minute. The teams didn’t took too much risk in the final minutes, so the game went into “endless overtime”. Adis Alagic found the decision for Jesenice in the 76th minute and brought the 2:0 lead in the series.

WSV Sterzing Broncos Weihenstephan vs. Migross Supermercati Asiago Hockey 2:3 (1:1; 0:2; 1:0)
In the second quarter-finals game, Daniel Maffia was absent for Sterzing. The Asiago had the same team of game 1. The first period it was opened with a good opportunity for Matthias Mantinger but the shot of the attacker of the Broncos was central. The game was very fragmented and no great occasions are created. The visitors took the lead right in the middle of the first period. Anthony Bardaro served a perfect assist to Giulio Scandella who made the first goal with a precise one-timer. The reaction of Sterzing came after seven minutes. Dominik Bernard served a puck for Radovan Gabri who scored a draw. During the last beats of the first period there was Ben Duffy's injury after a contrast with an opponent. The Broncos player will no longer played the match for a suspected concussion. During the second period, Asiago scored just after 85 seconds: Michael Sullivan surprised Gianluca Vallini. Then the game was much more fought and dynamic than in the first period. After 36 minutes Enrico Miglioranzi scored 3: 1 for the guests with one-timer. In the third time the Sterzing returned in game with the goal of Paolo Bustreo in powerplay. The Broncos put all the strength in it to get even. The Asiago controlled the final part of the game as they won the game for 3: 2. Now the yellowread formation was ahead in the series for 2:0.
 
HC Pustertal Wolves vs. FBI VEU Feldkirch 2:4 (1:2; 0:1; 1:1) 
The two teams played this match with the same players of game one except for the absence of the young Benjamin Kyllonen (Feldkirch). The game was very balanced and with absolutely playoff pace. The Austrian team proved to be more fit than the first game. The decisive moment of the match came after 7 minutes of play. In just 37 seconds Feldkirch made two very heavy goals in the game economy. First Stefan Wiedmaier and then Kristof Reinthaler surprised with their shots the goalkeeper Thomas Tragust. Then there was the reaction of the Wolves with Patrick Bona that with a one timer, his shoulder in the front of the net, halved the disadvantage. During the second period Pustertal controlled the game as they tried to equalize with the chances of Lancsar, Erlacher and Pance. But it was the Feldkirch that advanced in the result at the end of a spectacular and fast action between Dylan Stanley and Curtis Loic with the goal of the latter at the end of the central period. During the third period the guests controlled the game. Bruneck took some penalties. After 52 minutes there was the powerplay goal of Diethard Winzig: the team of Vorarlberg put the result in safe. Brunico tried to reopen the meeting but they only produced Eric Pance's powerplay goal. The Feldkirch won its first ever game in the playoffs of AHL for 4: 2 as they drew the series (1: 1).
