Four home wins and one away win in the Alps Hockey League today. In the top clash, the Rittner Buam won against Migross Supermercati Asiago Hockey with 5:1. Alex Frei scored twice against his former club. Thus HDD SIJ Acroni Jesenice is now the sole leader of the table. The Slovenians did not give the EC-KAC Future Team a chance in a 5:2 home win. The second 2:1 home win in a row was celebrated by the EHC Lustenau. Philipp Koczera scored both goals for the Vorarlberg team against the SHC Fassa Falcons. The Red Bull Hockey Juniors celebrated a clear 6:1 home victory over the Vienna Capitals Silver. In addition, the HC Gherdeina valgardena.it celebrated its third consecutive victory in the AHL. They won with 6:3 at the S.G. Cortina Hafro.
Jesenice returns with victory
Leader HDD SIJ Acroni Jesenice celebrated a 5:2 home win over the EC-KAC Future Team in their first AHL game since October 17th. Last week, the Slovenians were in action in the Continental Cup. They finished third in a group with Asiago with a win, missing out on advancing to the next round. Against the Future Team, Jesenice set the tone from the beginning. After 27 minutes of play, the hosts were already leading with 4:0. Shortly after, the guests were able to strike back with two goals within one minute. However, the visitors were unable to score another goal and it was league top scorer Eric Pance who scored the final goal with an empty-net goal just two minutes before the end of the game. In the standings, Jesenice remains at the top of the table. Due to the defeat of Asiago, the lead over the Italians is now three points.
Alex Frei scores twice against former club Asiago
The Rittner Buam decided the top match against Migross Supermercati Asiago Hockey surprisingly clear with 5:1 for themselves and moved in the table up to two points to the second in the table. Asiago, who were in the Continental Cup in action last week and also advanced to the next round with three wins, suffered their first defeat after seven straight wins. Lustenau turns game against Fassa around
Thanks to a brace by Philipp Koczera, the EHC Lustenau was able to turn the home game against SHC Fassa Falcons in its favor after trailing 0:1 and to claim its second 2:1 win in a row. The visitors took the lead after just four minutes of play with a goal from Davide Schiavone. Lustenau forward Koczera scored his season goals four and five in the second and third period. For the EHC it was already the ninth win over FAS in the eleventh AHL duel. The Vorarlberg team remains in fourth place in the standings. Fassa is 15th in the table.
Young Bulls finish off Capitals Silver
The game between the Red Bull Hockey Juniors and the Vienna Capitals Silver was a clear affair. The Young Bulls clearly kept the upper hand with 6:1 and celebrated the first victory after four defeats in a row. Finn Rasmus Lahnaviik was the man of the match with three goals. The 20-years-old now has eight goals scored this season. The 29-years-old Philipp Wimmer scored twice. It were the first goals of the season for the defender. Alexander Maxa scored the only goal for the Silver Caps. While the Viennese remain at the bottom of the table, the Young Bulls are in twelfth place.
Val Gardena wins in Cortina
The HC Gherdeina valgardena.it continued its upward trend also at the S.G. Cortina Hafro and celebrated already the third success en suite. Cortina on the other hand conceded the second defeat in a row. The home side started better in the game, which was lost with 4:2. In the 13th minute of the game, Luca Zanatta gave the ninth-placed Cortina a 1:0 lead in the power play. The 30-years-old defender also scored shortly before the end of the first period to make it 2:1 in the meantime. Cortina was also the team that set the tone in the following period, but the visitors scored the goals. Before the start of the final period, Val Gardena was 3:2 in front. In the end, the "Furie" prevailed with 6:3.
