Rittner Buam extend lead after overtime win

The Rittner Buam extended their lead in the AHL after an overtime win against HDD SIJ Acroni Jesenice. The HK SŽ Olimpija Ljubljana celebrated a last-minute win and draw level with the Wipptal Broncos Weihenstephan who lost against the EK Zeller Eisbären.The SHC Fassa Falcons celebrated their first win against EHC Lustenau.

Rittner Buam defend leading position
The Rittner Buam celebrated another comeback win. After trailing by 1:3 the Buam fought back in the second period which was rich of goal. In total there were seven goals in the second period. The Buam even managed to take the 4:3 lead in this period but the young team of Jesenice had the right answer and tied still in the second. In the third period both teams focused on defending and the goalies shined. No goals in the third, so the decision had to be taken in Overtime. Thomas Spinell brought the win with his third scorer point of the night.

Feldkirch with overtime win against Juniors
The situation in the standings kept its promises. The two neighbors in standings delivered a tight and tough battle. First Feldkirch captured the lead, then the Juniors brought themselves in front. Robin Soudek tied the game in the third period for the overtime. After a long overtime, when already everybody expected a shootout, Dylan Stanley brought the decision for Feldkirch. While Feldkirch captured the eights place in standings, the Juniors went down the place number 13.

Eisbären hinder Broncos to take the lead
The Wipptal Broncos Weihenstephan missed the opportunity to get back on the top of the standings. The EC-Zeller Eisbären climbed the standings to the important top-6. The start was quite promising for the Broncos as the second ranked team was able to take the lead after five minutes. But the Eisbären played a good hockey and the perioded ended two all. Sterzing recaptured the lead, but the Eisbären came back even stronger and built a two goals lead till the end. For Zell am See it was the first win in this duel after losing three consecutive times against the Eisbären.

Bregenzerwald with the clearance
The duel between the both bottom placed time was a clear thing for Bregenzerwald. Right from the beginning the home team acted much more efficiently than the Steel Wings Linz and built a quick 3:0 lead. After the second Bregenzwerwald increased the lead to 5:1 to win the game 7:2 at the end and take the 16th place at the end.

Clear shutout win for Pustertal
The HC Pustertal extended the winning streak to four and narrowed the gap to the top duo. After a clear 8:0 success, Pustertal is only trailing by one point to the second place and by three points to the first place. Pustertal controlled the game right from the beginning and built a 3:0 lead after 16 minutes. The game continued like that in the second period, where the Wolves doubled the lead to 6:0. Both teams reduced energy in the final period, bringing a 8:0 win for the vice champ of the past season.

Last minute win of Ljubljana
The duel between two former AHL Champions was a close battle. Asiago took the lead shorty before the end of the first period. Ljubljana tied in the second but against Asiago captured the lead. In the third period it was Ljubljana for the first time who got in front. Asiago kept its nerves and tied. But Ljubljana had the strong finish – Ziga Pesut scored the game winner in last minute during double powerplay. With that win Ljubljana draw level with the second win Wipptal Sterzing Broncos.

First win ever of Fassa against Lustenau
The SHC Fassa Falcons celebrated their first win against EHC Lustenau in AHL history. With that win Fassa surpassed the Lustenau in the standings. The Italian side took the quick lead after four minutes with the only goal in the opening period. In the second period Lustenau created many chances and tied the game. But then Fassa acted much more efficiently than Lustenau taking the 3:1 lead. Lustenau narrowed the gap still in the second. In the final period Lustenau pushed for the tie, but didn’t manage to force the overtime.
