Sabres Celebrate Shutout Win in win2day AWHL | Wins for MAC and Bozen in the EWHL

The Sabres St. Pölten capped off their weekend in the win2day Austrian Women’s Hockey League with a 4-0 shutout victory on the road against the Salzburg Eagles. In the European Women’s Hockey League, the EVB Eagles South Tyrol kept the pressure on league leaders Aisulu with an 8-2 win over the Lakers Kärnten. Meanwhile, MAC Budapest secured a 6-2 victory against the Graz Huskies.

The Sabres St. Pölten defeated the Salzburg Eagles 4-0 in the win2day AWHL. The team from Lower Austria took an early lead just over two minutes in, courtesy of a goal from Tamina Schall. For the next 40 minutes, however, the Sabres were stymied by goaltender Kristiana Apsite, who couldn’t be beaten again until the final period when the Sabres struck three more times on the power play. With this win, the Sabres remain hot on the heels of league leaders KSV.

Bozen and MAC Victorious in the EWHL
The EVB Eagles South Tyrol cruised to an 8-2 victory over the Lakers Kärnten, keeping them within striking distance of league leaders Aisulu. The South Tyrol squad jumped out to a 3-0 lead just four minutes into the game and never looked back, securing a comfortable win. Kristin Della Rovere led the charge with a hat trick. The Eagles remain five points behind in the standings, though Aisulu has played three more games.

The EC Graz Huskies, fresh off their win over Budapest Jegkorong Akademia, fell to MAC Budapest in their next matchup. The team from Styria got off to a strong start, taking the lead in the eighth minute with a power-play goal from Julia Klamminger. However, MAC turned the game around in the first period and eventually secured a 6-2 victory.
