Everything was in place for a spectacular opening of the win2day Austrian Women's Hockey League. It didn't take long for the league's first scorer to emerge: Canadian Hannah Tait hardly needed any time to get used to European field hockey, scoring her first of three goals in the third minute. The hosts from St. Pölten made it 3:0 before the end of the first period and Tait completed her hat-trick with a 4:0 at the start of the second period. After the Sabres made it 5:0, the Highlanders were also able to score for the first time - still in the middle third. The game finally ended 5:1.
