On April 19, EC Red Bull Salzburg crowned themselves champions in the last game of the 2023/24 season. 112 days later, Salzburge will also open the new season with their first preseason game. The champions started team training at the beginning of this week. Head coach Oliver David has already been able to call on new players Nikolaus Kraus, Nash Nienhuis and Andrew Rowe as well as Philipp Krening from the Red Bull Hockey Juniors team. After the first week of training, Salzburg will open their preparation campaign with a game in Zell am See against EV Zug, who reached the semi-finals of the strong Swiss National League last season.

Thomas Raffl will not be involved on Friday, as he is completing a special preparation program and will only join the action later. Lucas Thaler's participation is also uncertain; the forward was still ill recently.

Sharks duel with DEL2 team

HC TIWAG Innsbruck also starts its preparation program on the same weekend: On Sunday, the Sharks will face the DEL2 team Kassel Huskies.

Neo-head coach Jordan Smotherman also started training with his team this week. Innsbruck-born Marco Kasper was a prominent training guest on the ice. Also present were league newcomers Mark Rassell, Nicholas Welsh, Garrett McFadden (all CAN), Patrick Grasso (USA) and Yushiroh Hirano (JPN). Only Ryan Valentini (CAN) had to be left out.
