In the third game of the "best-of-seven" final series of the win2day ICE Hockey League, the EC-KAC is already under pressure at home against EC Red Bull Salzburg. The reigning champions won the first two duels and can therefore secure match pucks on Tuesday. The match will be shown on PULS 24, in a free live stream on puls24.at and on the free streaming service JOYN.

After the clear 4:0 defeat on Sunday, the Red Jackets are currently trailing 2:0 against EC Red Bull Salzburg and need a win in the Heidi Horten Arena to prevent early match pucks for the defending champions. Klagenfurt has trailed 2:0 in best-of-seven series four times. The Carinthians managed to turn the series around once - in the 2017 semi-final against Salzburg - but lost out on the other three occasions. Head coach Kirk Furey's team has so far mostly got shots on target from less promising positions and the Red & Whites have not scored for almost 126 minutes. In contrast, the Red Bulls have converted a 2:0 lead in a best-of-seven duel into a series win in 15 of the 16 games so far. Salzburg will rely on their away strength again on Tuesday: They have won seven consecutive play-off games away from home this season, with their last defeat coming on 9 April 2024 in Klagenfurt.

Statements:
Daniel Obersteiner (KAC): "You saw in the first game what level we can play at when we act as a five-man unit, that was a great game from us. What we definitely need to improve is our scoring, we need goals, you don't win a playoff series with one goal in two games. The way back to our game starts with the simple things: Skating, checks, grit. We need a win, then the world will look different again. Tomorrow we want to win at all costs and then we'll work our way from game to game."

Ali Wukovits (RBS): "We're delighted to have taken a 2:0 lead in the series, but we can't rest on our laurels. We're expecting a hard-fought third game in Klagenfurt. They will want to respond to the last game, it will be more intense in all respects; physically, the tempo, certainly also more tactical. The level will now get higher from game to game and we're ready for anything."
