Salzburg captures match pucks | Fehérvár steals home advantage

EC Red Bull Salzburg remains unbeaten in the third game of the semifinals of the win2day ICE Hockey League in the current postseason. The winner of the regular season secured four match pucks with a commanding shutout victory against the spusu Vienna Capitals. In the second semifinal duel Hydro Fehérvár AV19 managed to steal the home advantage from EC Grand Immo VSV. The Hungarians celebrated their first shutout win in the current playoffs in Villach and put the score at 2-1 in the "best-of-seven" semifinal series.

Fehérvár takes first series lead in semifinals
Hydro Fehérvár AV19 celebrated the second semifinal win in a row and takes the lead of the "best-of-seven" series against EC Grand Immo VSV for the first time. As in the two games before, the Hungarians were able to go into the first intermission with a lead on Monday. Also in the second period there were some parallels to the encounter two days ago. Again, the Hungarians started with a double in the middle period. This time there were only eight seconds between the two goals. While the VSV could start a catch-up 48 hours ago, the offensive department of the Carinthians remained largely harmless on Monday. Fehérvár finally prevailed 4-0 and put the score at 2-1 in the "best-of-seven" series, while AVS goalie Rasmus Tirronen was able to celebrate his first shutout in the ongoing playoffs. EC Grand Immo VSV, on the other hand, failed to score a single goal in its home arena for only the second time this season.



Salzburg captures four final pucks
After the curious OT victory of EC Red Bulls Salzburg - RBS was still trailing 0:2 with 40 seconds to go - the dominator in the regular season followed up in commanding manner on Monday. The spusu Vienna Capitals, on the return of their head coach, were unable to repeat the strong fighting performance of the previous match. From the start, the Salzburgers presented themselves dangerous in front of their home crowd and took the early lead through Mike Dalhuisen's first playoff goal. The superiority of the six-time ICE champions became even more obvious in the middle period and the lead was extended to 4:0. The Viennese did not manage to catch up in the final period. RBS goalie Atte Tolvannen succeeded in his third playoff appearance this season with his first shutout. It was the first shutout ever in a playoff duel between these two teams. On Wednesday, the Salzburg team will have the first of four chances to reach the final.
