Salzburg climbs into top-8 + Ritten defends Italian Championship

In the two only Sunday games in Alps Hockey League the Red Bull Hockey Juniors made the jump into the top-8 after winning against the EC-KAC2. Also the EHC Alge Elastic Lustenau keeps its playoff chances alive with a close win against Kitzbühel. The Rittner Buam won the Final Four to defend Italian championship. In the final game they booked a 6:1 success over HC Pustertal.

EC-KAC II – Red Bull Hockey Juniors 2:4 (0:0, 2:2, 0:2)
In the opening period the Red Bull Hockey Juniors couldn’t beat the KAC goaly Jakob Holzer. Despite of a couple of powerplay situation, they didn’t manage to score. The hosts couldn’t create good chances and were still lucky with 0:0. In the 24th minute it was Nico Strodel who opened the scoring. He scored after Assist of Yannic Pilloni and Patrik Kittinger for the 1:0 lead. Ony 94 seconds after that the KAC turned the game. First Florian Kurath tied the game, two minutes later Philipp Kreuzer even captured the lead. Florian Baltram succeeded with the equalizer stil in the second. Christopf Wappis recaptured the lead for the Juniors in the final period. In hectic final minutes Salzburg kept its nerves and Victor Östling scored for the result of 4:2.

The game started on an even level. After 15 minutes David Kreuter openend the scoring after Assist of Max Wilfan. Lustenau took control in the second period and got rewarded by the 2:0 of Eetu-Ville Arkiomaa. Shortly before the end of the second period Yan Stastny even increased to 3:0. Only one minute after the begin of the final period Philip Putnik scored the 4:0 The game seemed to be decided. But the hosts shifted one gear up and increased intensity. Peter Lenes scored the first goal for his team and started the race to catch up. Clemens Kuchinka and Filip Orsagh scored two more goals and made the game with 3:4 open and exciting again. The hsts pushed for the equalizer, but didn’t succeed anymore.
