A sold-out ice arena in Salzburg with a total of 3,400 spectators saw no change in the line-up of EC Red Bull Salzburg, leading 2-0 in the final series, while the Hungarians were forced to make changes: Braeden Shaw was missing due to suspension, Istvan Bartalis due to the birth of his child.
Nevertheless, Fehérvár started with huge pressure, a lot of energy and a first good chance by Janos Hari. But also for Salzburg, Brian Lebler drew attention with a good chance. The pace was high, with good actions on both end, but also strong goalkeepers: Both Atte Tolvanen and Rasmus Tirronen kept a clear sheet – even in a powerplay occasion each.

The second period started with Csanad Erdely and Kristof Retfalvi both hitting the post, as on the opposite side, Mike Dalhuisen also hit the cross bar. The game was on a high level and then the Hungarians took the lead: Salzburg’s turnover in the neutral zone, Gleason Fournier to Alex Petan, back to Fournier (26.) and the give-and-go was perfectly executed. Then Salzburg picked up again, was superior in phases. Tirronen prevented the equalizer at first, but he was powerless against a one-timer by Thomas Raffl in the 39th minute.

About two minutes before the end then face-off in front of Tirronen: Salzburg with the face-off win. Sarauer broke the stick, he went straight to the bench, as the “Red Bulls” had a nice play through Loney, Lebler and Järvinen, who hit the game winner. 96 seconds were still on the clock, Fehérvár mostly with a man more on the ice, but in the end against a strong Atte Tolvanen without a second goal.
