The first Salzburg derby of the Master Round was won by EK Die Zeller Eisbären, who defeated the Juniors 3–1 in front of their home crowd. With that victory, the team from the Pinzgau region also secured first place in the Master Round and the first pick. The Red Bull Hockey Juniors sit eight points behind the Polar Bears in second place and sealed that position on Thursday with a 7–4 home win over Asiago. Of the four meetings between the teams this season in the Alps Hockey League, Zell am See won three. They also defeated the Juniors in the final of the Austrian AHL championship.

Asiago vs. Sisak for third place
A change in the standings is still possible in the very last Master Round game. Third-placed HC Migross Asiago currently has a three-point lead over Sisak and won the first meeting of the intermediate round on the road, 7–4. Therefore, Sisak needs a regulation-time victory with significantly more goals scored than Asiago to move ahead of the Italian side in the standings. However, that will be a very difficult task. In the regular season, Asiago also won two of the three encounters between the teams. In addition, Sisak is not in good form at the moment. Although they secured a 4–3 road win in Sterzing on Thursday, it was their first victory after five consecutive defeats. Asiago, meanwhile, lost 4–7 in Salzburg, suffering one of two defeats in the last five games.
