Salzburg extends lead at top I Home teams win in Qualification Round

On Sunday EC Red Bull Salzburg extended their lead at top with a road win in Graz. In the second Pick Round game EC-KAC prolonged their home winning streak against spusu Vienna Capitals. In Qualification Round the home teams took the points with HC TWK Innsbruck ending a 12-game losing streak.

In Pick Round EC Red Bull Salzburg extended the lead at the top. Despite trailing twice, the team of head coach Matt McIlvane earned a 3:2 overtime win in Graz. Chad Kolarik decided it after 62 minutes. It was their third successive road win against the 99ers. In the second game EC-KAC also got a comeback win. The reigning champions were down by one until the 54th minute but then Schumnig and Hundertpfund scored two goals within 78 seconds. Vienna tried everything in a final push but KAC goalie David Madlener made some great saves. After winning their Pick Round opener, the Carinthians are just one point behind second-placed Capitals.

Home teams take the points
In Qualifcation Round the three home teams had cause to celebrate with Dornbirn and Fehervar getting their second win at the season's second stage. Dornbirn ended a 6-game losing streak against Znojmo with a 2:1 overtime win. In front of 4.000 spectators Vainonen scored the deciding goal during a two-man advantage. The Bulldogs only conceded one goal in 180 minutes of Qualification Round.

Fehervar beat Linz 3:1 at home thanks to a second-period brace by Campbell and Sarauer. With a victory in their 350th Erste Bank Eishockey Liga home game, the Hungarians also moved up to a playoff spot. In the last game of the day Innsbruck ended a 12-game losing streak, beating Villach 5:3. The Tirolese even had a 4:0 lead late in the second but the visitors came back again. In the end a power play goal from Broda made the game safe.
