Salzburg extends winning streak on the road

On Sunday 3 of 4 Erste Bank Eishockey Liga games were decided by only one goal. While leader EC Red Bull Salzburg is still unbeaten on the road, Liwest Black Wings Linz and Hydro Fehervar AV19 turned it to their favour in the third period. In addition EC-KAC goalie David Madlener got his 4th shutout this season.

Raffl scores brace in 700th league game
Despite Travis Oleksuk opened the scoring early for Graz, the leaders from Salzburg took a 2:1 lead into the first intermission. After the restart Mario Huber added a third but the hosts came back with the Swedish forwards Collberg (25') and Hillding (39') tying it at three. In his 700th Erste Bank Eishockey Liga game Salzburg captain Thomas Raffl became the hero with scoring his second of the night for a 4:3 road win. Thanks to their 11th away victory, the Red bulls are still unbeaten on the road.



Linz on the rise

Captain Anton Bernard took an early lead for Bolzano in their home game again Linz but Dan DaSilva tied it at one before the first intermission. After Kristler turned it around the momentum switched again to Bolzano with Bardaro and Catenacci making it 3:2 within 58 seconds. Early in the third Lebler scored another equalizer and with his 10th season gola Rick Schofield decided this entertaining game. Linz moved up to third, Bolzano is 4th.

KAC goalie Madlener gets 4th season shutout
EC-KAC is newly second-placed team as the champions earned a comfortable 4:0 win against bottom-club Dornbirn. Johannes Bischofberger (12') and Daniel Obersteiner (16') scored the first two goals in the opening period. Andrew Kozek added another goal in the middle frame when he scored backhand with his back to the goal. Dornbirn did not generate much and in the very few situations Kalgenfurt's netminder David Madlener stopped them. With seven minutes to go Manuel Ganahl rounded off the scoring for a 4:0 home win.



Fehérvár comes back twice against Villach

The game started better for Villach and Collins scored the first periods lone goal with a deflection. Fehervar started the second period more aggressive in front of the net, yet their missed their second powerplay as well. In the middle of the period Hannu Jarvenpaa’s team tied the game, Koger deflected Sarauer’s shot in front of the net. The third period brought hard fight for another goal and Villach got it first, Lahoda found the puck loose and he did not miss. The Hungarians pushed harder for their second goal and it came in the middle of the period, Daniel Szabo put the puck in the net. 7 minutes left in the game, Tikkanen got his team in the lead after a wraparound and Busenius and co. defended well until the buzzer for their first win this year against the Eagles.
