The EC Red Bull Salzburg had to take a 3:5 defeat at the road game at Banská Bystrica.The Slovakian Champ already had a 4:1 lead, but the Red Bulls fought back had even had a good chance to tie the game. The empty net goal of the hosts brought the final decision. Some other teams of the Erste Bank Eishockey Liga used the last weekend before the league start for perparation games.
Right from the beginning the EC Red Bull Salzburger suffered a setback. Martin Bellus scored in the second minute a distance shot for the 1:0 lead. Salzburg increased the energy level but hat to take a couple of penalties. But instead receiving another goal, Bobby Raymond manage to the game with a short hander in the 12th minute. In the second period, the Red Bulls started better, but this time it was the host again who captured the lead. From this point on the Slovakian Champ took control and managed to increase the lead still in the second period to 3:1. The last period started like the second ended and HC05 Banská Bystrica scored their fourth goal of the afternoon. The Red Bulls started to fight back. First Alex Aleardi succeeded with his shot, then Michael Schiechtl even narrowed the gap to a one goal difference. The equalizer was in the air, but instead of tying the game, the hostst scored the empty net goal for the result of 5:3. The EC Red Bulls Salzburg lost their third game in their fourth CHL appearance this season.
EBEL teams use last chance for preparation program
Less than a week left, till the Erste Bank Eishockey Liga is on it’s way again. The teams used the last chance for their tests.
In the last preparation game for the Black Wings, Linz lost their “clean hands”. During the tournament in South Tyrol they lost after 40 engaged minutes, clearly against the Swedish top club. Topklub Färjestads BK justified their role as favorites and won with 7:1.
The HC TWK Innsbruck end preseason with a 1:3 defeat against the Straubing Tigers. Innsbruck started with high energy and captured the early lead after a wrist shot of Benni Schnnack. Then the tigers increased the energy level and tied the game still in the first period. Tübingen took also control in the second period and increased the lead to 2:1. Innsbruck tried to fight back in the final third, but instead of tying the game, they received the empty net goal for the result of 1:3.
Medvescak Zagreb and Lausitzer Füchse played the first game on Sunday in the Gábor Ocskay Memorial Tournament. After Zagreb’s win against Fehervar on Saturday it was already sure that the Croatian team won the tournament. The Germans started the game better as Lennartsson scored in the 6th minute. Two minutes later, Puskarich tied the game and Brine got his team in the lead. In the second period, Medvescak started to dominate, in the middle of the period, Koskiranta scored another goal. The third period went on mostly in front of the German net, Connor Cameron’s team didn’t score more goals and won the game and the Tournament well-deserved. Gasper Kroselj was chosen the best goalie of the tournament.
Fehervar took the in the lead already in the second minute, with Koger scoring from close. Despite a couple of good chances of the devils, the score remained 1:0 after 20 minutes. Also in the second period seemed to be with out goals for long time. But 24 seconds left in the period Latendresse scored a rebound for the 2:0. The third period brought two five-on-three opportunities for Fehervar, the second of which they used well and scored their thrid goal, this time Arttu Luttinen scored. Two minutes later the difference was already four goals, Vincze deflected a shot from Uotila in front of the net. The Slovakian team managed to score for the first in the last period, but at the end, Fehervar dominated again and Arttu Luttinen scored the fifth goal just seconds before the end. Fehervar got the silver medal in the Gábor Ocskay Memorial Tournament. Jonathan Harty was chosen the best defenseman and Donát Szita was the best young player.
