Capitals equalise again with next home win
The spusu Vienna Capitals continued their home series on Saturday and walked off the ice victorious in a playoff game at Erste Bank Arena for the sixth time in a row. The Viennese started the fourth semifinal duel on the attack and brought lots of shots goalwards. In the eleventh minute, Taylor Vause also gave the Caps the lead. After a turnover in the neutral zone, the 29-year-old Canadian - after eleven goalless games before - pushed the puck over the line. Jerome Leduc was also on the ice for this goal. The Vienna Capitals would have been missing him today as the defenceman was in hospital for the birth of his child and was also absent in the first minutes. The Caps nevertheless wrote Leduc on the game sheet and the number 8 actually joined the players' bench in the middle of the first period. With the 1:0 it also went into the first break. After the restart, Rafael Rotter was unlucky with a shot at the bar. In the 29th minute, the visitors tied it: In their first power play of the game, Dennis Robertson scored from the blue line. Later in the middle period, the Bolzano team couldn't get the puck out of their own zone and Marco Richter (38th) finished into the far corner for another Caps lead. The game remained exciting until the final minutes. Ty Loney (58th) then made the decision with a "flash of genius", the Caps topscorer hit HCB goalie Leland Irving on the back from behind the goal and the puck went in for 3:1. The final goal was scored by Benjamin Nissner on an empty-netter. The 4:1 win for the Viennese was also the fourth home win in this series. The series continues on Monday in South Tyrol.

Salzburg booked first win in the semifinals

EC Red Bull Salzburg came back in the semifinal series against EC-KAC. In the fourth meeting, the Salzburg side celebrated a deserved 4:3 victory. The Red Bulls got off a good start and took the lead as early as the fourth minute through a backhand shot by Dominique Heinrich. But the guests' answer came promptly when a covered shot by Blaz Gregorc went in behind Jesper Eliasson, who this time got the nod over J.P. Lamoureux. But Salzburg regained the lead when Austin Ortega (10th) beat Seabstian Dahm for a second time this night. Salzburg went into the first intermission with a 2:1 lead. In the middle period, both sides scored a power play goal. First Nick Petersen (25th) beat Eliasson at the short corner, then John Hughes (32nd) scored after a great Espeland pass for Salzburg's third lead of the evening. The tension reached its peak in the third period. In a confusing situation in front of their own goal, the hosts combined forces to prevent Petersen from equalising again. When Petri Matikainen replaced his goalkeeper for a sixth skater, David McIntyre scored the supposed decision. But only 25 seconds later the Klagenfurt side - again with six skaters on the ice - scored through Gregorc. However, the Red Bulls defended the narrow 4:3 advantage until the end and avoided elimination. The fifth duel will take place in Klagenfurt again on Monday.
