Salzburg secure third place at Red Bulls Salute

The EC Red Bull Salzburg won the match for third place at the Red Bulls Salute against HC Kosice from Slovakia with 6:1. Järvinen (2), Schneider (2), Wukovits and LoVerde provided the goals for the bet-at-home ICE Hockey League team.

On the second day of the Red Bulls Salute, Salzburg got off a perfect start. Captain Thomas Raffl served Jan-Mikael Järvinen with a cross pass in the 5th minute, which the Finn did not miss and scored from close range for the only goal in the first period. The Red Bulls were also the dominant team after the restart, Ali Wukovits scored on the powerplay at the right post for a 2:0 lead. In the 36th minute Jan-Mikael Järvinen deflected the puck unstoppable and thus fixed his first brace for the Red Bulls, who took a deserved 3:0 lead into the second intermission. Shortly after the start of the final period, Peter Scheider pulled the puck into the corner of the net from half-distance to increase Salzburg's lead to 4-0. After the Slovakians had scored a consolation goal, Vincent LoVerde increased the lead again in the 51st minute from an acute angle and two minutes later Peter Schneider scored his second goal of the day from distance to complete a clear victory for the Red Bulls, who finished the tournament in third place.
