Peter Schneider was born in Klosterneuburg and started playing ice hockey in Vienna at the then EAC Pinguin, the junior team of the Vienna Capitals, but early on he looked for a way abroad. At the age of 16 he played in Ceske Budejovice in the Czech U18 League, was then also trained in Bratislava and Znojmo and in 2010 as a 19-year-old ventured across the pond, where in Indianapolis with the Indiana Ice in the USHL began an almost eight-year American adventure. The USHL season was followed by four years in the NCAA with the University of Notre Dame, crowned with the 2013 title (Div. I).

From 2015 to 2018, Schneider played for various clubs in the ECHL and moved back to Europe to the spusu Vienna Capitals during the 2017/18 season after five games with the Kalamazoo Wings. There he showed equally strong in 49 games of the then Erste Bank Eishockey Liga with 15 goals and 21 assists and topped the performance significantly the following year with 40 goals and 41 assists in 72 games, for which he was also honored with the Ron Kennedy Trophy (Most Valuable Player). The forward spent the last two seasons in the Swiss National League with EHC Biel-Bienne (2019/20) and in the Czech Tipsport Extraliga (2020/21), where he reached the playoff quarterfinals with HC Kometa Brno.

Now the goal-scoring forward is coming to Salzburg and has a clear goal in mind: "I want to win titles. I've been looking for a team where that's possible, where the whole environment fits. A club that is hungry for victories and titles and where the entire organization is geared up for that. The Red Bulls want to win the championship every year and I really like that."
