EC Red Bull Salzburg is just one win away from advancing to the semifinals of the win2day ICE Hockey League, as the reigning champion celebrated its third win over Hydro Fehérvár AV19 at home with a 2-1 overtime victory. In the other three quarterfinal series, the road teams prevailed in each case to make it 2-1: Emilio Romig gave the Steinbach Black Wings Linz their second win in a row over regular-season dominator HCB Südtirol Alperia with a brace, while the spusu Vienna Capitals benefited from a strong middle frame in Innsbruck and EC-KAC decided the 349th Carinthian derby with a powerplay goal by Rok Ticar with 31 seconds left.

EC Red Bull Salzburg also won the third quarterfinal duel with Hydro Fehérvár AV19 - again with only one goal difference, for the first time after overtime: The guests from Hungary took the lead in the 52nd minute through Alex Petan, who missed the first two playoff rounds due to illness. But Paul Huber (56.) allowed the champion to go into overtime after a rebound. There, both teams performed very disciplined, each had good opportunities before Salzburg's powerplay unit made the difference, as Mario Huber's shot was deflected by Peter Hochkofler (76.) for the final score of 2-1.

Romig‘s brace gives Black Wings second straight win
The Steinbach Black Wings Linz inflicted the second defeat in a row on regular season dominator HCB Südtirol Alperia, winning 2-1 away from home, with the Upper Austrians taking the lead in the "best-of-7" quarterfinal series. Emilio Romig, who already scored the game-winner on Friday, was responsible for both goals: five seconds before the end of the first period he scored from the left into the short corner for the lead, at the beginning of the final period (42.) he collected his second goal. Goalie Rasmus Tirronen had an outstanding night too, making 37 saves. In addition, Phil Lukas' team showed a perfect penalty killing.

Vienna wins it with strong second period
The spusu Vienna Capitals regained the series lead against HC TIWAG Innsbruck - Die Haie. The 5-2 victory of the "Caps" in Innsbruck was already the third road win in this quarterfinal series. Radek Prokes (20.) equalized the Haie lead still in the first period by deflection and was successful right after the restart on powerplay. The Viennese were highly efficient in the second period, quickly adding to their tally through Armin Preiser (23.) and Niki Hartl (33.), making the preliminary decision.

Ticar hits game winner with 31 seconds left
EC-KAC again gained the advantage in the derby series against EC iDM Wärmepumpen VSV with a 4-3 away win. Lucas Lessio (12. and 45.) gave Klagenfurt the lead twice in Villach, Derek Joslin (14.) and Marco Richter (46./SH1) equalized each. Then the "Adler" took the lead for the first time in the sold-out Stadthalle through Andrew Desjardins (49.). But Thomas Hundertpfund (50.) was on the spot right away. When there was much to be said for an overtime, the "Redcoats" were awarded a power play - and Rok Ticar (60./PP1) scored 31 seconds before the end to take the series lead.
