Final one in Salzburg was a equal match from the start. After seven and a half minutes the time had come and for the first time in the final series of the win2day ICE Hockey League 2022 a goal was scored. Brian Lebler gave the home side the lead in front of 2343 spectators after Jan-Mikael Järvinen's assist. But the visitors, who are in the final of the ICE for the first time, answered promptly. After a dream assist from Istvan Bartalis, Csanad Erdely scored the first final goal in the history of the Hungarians in the eleventh minute of the match. The score was 1:1 at the end of the first period.

Crossbar prevents Salzburg from taking the lead

In the second period, the home side had the better chances to score, but failed to take the lead again. Twice they failed only at the bar in the end. First a beam from Peter Schneider bounced off the crossbar. Just a few minutes later, Brian Lebler came within millimeters of scoring his second goal of the evening.

In the final period it went back and forth, with great chances on both sides. But the goalkeepers Atte Tolvanen (RBS) and Rasmus Tirronen (AVS) were always there. This was also the case in the final minutes of the regular playing time, when first Fehérvár had a powerplay and a short time later also Salzburg. However, the score remained 1:1 after 60 minutes, which is why the final one had to be decided in overtime.

Danjo Leonhardt scored the game winner
In the first overtime, which was played in five-on-five, the decision was not made. In the subsequent second overtime, the game was played in three-on-three. And when no decision was reached even after 82 minutes and 27 seconds, it was clear that the final opener would be the longest final game in league history. The previous record dated back to 2010. After all, it took until the 85th minute of play before German Danjo Leonhardt decided game one in favor of the Red Bulls. It was the second playoff goal for the 19-year-old.
