Big news from Jesenice and Zell am See: Goalie Clarke Saunders will return to the Steel City for the upcoming season. The 28-year old Canadian was the best goalie in the Alps Hockey League 2017/18. EK Zeller Eisbären have presented Austrian forward Daniel Nageler as their first new player for the 2018/19-season.

Nageler returns to Pinzgau
Austrian Daniel Nageler returns to EK Zeller Eisbären. The 31-year old forward has already played for the Polar Bears from 2006 until 2009. Nageler will add offensiv-power and much experience to the team: The power-forward played 504 Erste Bank Eishockey League-games for EC Panaceo VSV (Champion 2005/06) and Vienna Capitals between 2003 and 2017, scoring 130 points. Last season, Nageler went for goals and points for Dunaujvarosi Acelbikak in Hungary, netting 23 points out of 36 matches.

Top goalie stays in Jesenice
Canadian Clarke Saunders will continue to play for HDD SIJ Acroni Jesenice in the upcoming season as well. The 28-year old goalie was a key-player in the team last season. Saunders guarded the „Red Steelers“ net 42 times in the Alps Hockey League 2017/18, earning the best save% (93.1) and a strong GAA (2.15). Besides, he has won his first (Slovenian) title with the Steel Citizens in his first year playing in Europe as well.
Furthermore, the forwards Urban Sodja and Gašper Seršen (both SLO) will go for goals and points for the Steel Citizens 2018/19 as well.
