Olimpija have started the season perfectly with three wins and eight out of a possible nine points. Already last year, the Slovenians set a record start with four straight victories – a mark the "Green Dragons" could now equal against Vorarlberg. No team has scored more goals so far (19) than Ljubljana, while the Pioneers have also conceded the most (14 in three games).

Salzburg, too, hold eight points after three rounds and sit in second place. The defending champions face the recently resurging Capitals, who responded to a heavy opening defeat with two wins – including a spectacular 7–6 over Linz on Friday. Last season, Vienna won the last two head-to-head meetings.

EC-KAC, with two wins from three games, are in third place and will host HCB Südtirol. The Bolzano side celebrated their first win of the season on Friday with a 6–0 triumph in Feldkirch and have won nine of the last twelve encounters with the “Red Jackets.” HCB particularly enjoys playing in Klagenfurt: at the Heidi Horten Arena they have won five of six appearances, conceding only ten KAC goals.

After three away games that yielded four points, EC iDM Wärmepumpen VSV will make their home debut on Sunday against HC Falkensteiner Pustertal. The South Tyroleans opened with a commanding win in Innsbruck but then suffered a shutout loss against Graz. Last season, the home team always prevailed in this matchup.

HC TIWAG Innsbruck face a double header in Hungary this weekend: on Saturday they visit Hydro Fehérvár AV19, and less than 24 hours later they play league newcomers FTC-Telekom Budapest, who are still seeking their first win in the win2day ICE Hockey League.
