In their first game of the new year in the European Women’s Hockey League, Silesia had comfortably beaten the DEC Salzburg Eagles. The Polish team pulled away after a close first period and sealed the victory in the second. Karolina Pozniewska and Maja Brzezinska each recorded a brace in the 6-1 win, which lifted Silesia to seventh place in the standings.

Sunday's game, however, was a much tighter affair. Silesia opened the scoring early in the first period, with Karolina Pozniewska finding the back of the net in the 6th minute on the power play. Just a minute later, Hanna Obermayr equalized for Salzburg, and before the first period ended, Tatjana Zahirnyi put the Austrian side ahead with another power play goal at 19:44. Salzburg's defense was solid, and they held on to their lead deep into the third period.

However, Silesia's resilience paid off. Pozniewska struck again in the 60th minute, netting another power play goal to tie the game at 2-2 and send it into overtime. In the extra period, with both teams under immense pressure, it was Magdalena Lapies who clinched the win for Silesia, scoring the decisive goal at 64:51. Wiktoria Gogoc provided the assist, and with that goal, Silesia secured the narrow victory.

Despite a strong performance from the Salzburg side, including an outstanding 37-save performance from goaltender Anna Topler, they were unable to prevent the late equalizer and the overtime winner.
