Sat, 16.02.2019: EHC Alge Elastic Lustenau vs. Migross Supermercati Asiago Hockey 1935 3:5 (1:1,1:3,1:1)

Migross Supermercati Asiago Hockey 1935 searched their luck in the offense in Lustenau (46:22-shots). Nevertheless, the 892 fans got to see a close match in the first 30 minutes, because the Vorarlberger managed to tie the score twice. But, then, Benetti (33.) and Tessari (34.) gave the „Yellow-Reds“ a 4:2-lead with two goals within just 82 seconds. The Italians had a perfect start into the third period as well: Pietroniero netted the 5:2 after just 32 seconds and decided the game. The Champion has finally won 5:3 in Lustenau. The Vorarlberger have been defeated for the first time after four straight wins.

HDD SIJ Acroni Jesenice searched their luck in the offense against Wipptal Broncos Weihenstephan (42:19-shots). Pance wasn‘t to stop twice in period 1 and gave the Slovenes a 2:0-lead after 20 minutes. The guests had a perfect start into period 2: Mantinger netted the 2:1 in minute 24. The „Red Steelers“ stayed unimpressed and stayed the chiefs on the ice, but WSV goalie Gianluca Vallini was not to beat. The Slovenes tried and tried and were finally rewarded with two late goals scored by Svetina (51.) and Glavic (54.). Sterzing has been defeated for the first time after six straight wins.

Red Bull Hockey Juniors have won a goal-festival against Hockey Milano Rossoblu 7:4 and have earned their ninth straight victory. The Mozart Citizens shot from everywhere (53:32-shots) and got a quick lead netted by Predan (6.). The Italians responded in a Power Play. But, the Austrians stayed unimpressed and got a 4:1-lead thanks three goals from Evertsson (12.), Nordberg (16.) and Feldner (26.). The Italians showed character and came back into the game: After 46 minutes, the Mozart Citizens were leading by just one goal – 5:4. But, the Italians didn’t manage the turn-around: Predan (51.) and Feldner (57./SH/EN) have even added two more goals for the Mozart Citizens in the final minutes. The Italians will visit Zell am See on Sunday.

VEU Feldkirch won a goal-festival against HC Fassa Falcons 6:5. The Austrians, who have the weakest Power Play in the Alps Hockey League, got a 3:0-lead thanks three Power Play goals netted by Birnstill (10./pp), Puschnik (11./pp) and Stanley (24./pp). Puschnik even potted the 4:0 just 14 seconds after the 3:0. The Italians took advantage from a Power Play to get n the score board in minute 25 – 4:1. The match continued with penalties and goals on both sides: The VEU was already leading 6:2 after 33 minutes, but, the Falcons showed character and came back with three goals from Iori (36./pp) and Gran (38., 55.). But, the Vorarlberger managed to defend their close lead until the end.

EC Bregenzerwald has signed Austrian goalie Alexander Schmidt. The 18-year old netminder went on loan from Villach to Dornbirn. Alexander Schmidt was already in the Line-up against HK SZ Olimpija as the Back up. But, the guests from Ljubljana continued their good run in Dornbirn. And the green dragons have decided the game already in the first 25 minutes with three goals netted by Brus (18.), Pesut (23.) and Simsic (25.), who arrived new from Zagreb. Then, the Slovenes controlled the match and have finally earned their eight straight victory. In the end, the Slovenes won in Dornbirn 5:2.

The Pustertal recovered Armin Helfer for this match but must always gave up Erlacher, Grossgasteiger and Marko Virtala. In the Cortina there was the debut of the Slovak Daniel Stumpf who has taken the place of Vanttinen. Moser, Ayotte and Taufer were absent. The first part of the time was in favour of the home team, that didn’t collect. Then, at the first real opportunity, Devin Diomete, at the end of a fast action, took the advantage of the Cortina that then doubled after a good play of the former Bruneteau. But Bruneck reacted and halved the disadvantage before the end of the period with Gianluca March. Meanwhile, in the first half there was an injury to David Laner. Even in the second half the game was very exciting and hard fought. After so many efforts Iva Althuber achieved the draw of the yellow-black team in poweplay. In the third period the history of the match didn’t change. The Wolves were always on the attack but the Cortina acted with fast restarts. But Bruneck was more determined as they found the winning game goal with Markus Gander with a deflection (48.). The final match was always fought but the home team won by 3:2. The Cortina always remained in 11th position.

The Rittner Buam won 4:2 against HC Gherdeina valgardena.it. as they returned to success after two consecutive defeats. Thanks to the three points earned, the Ritten returned to fourth position for the direct access to the quarter-finals. Gherdeina always remained in eleventh position but thanks to the defeat of Bregenzerwald, the Furies was in the pre-playoffs. With two teams almost full, the match was very balanced and played at a good pace. David Galassiti scored the first goal for Gherdeina but before the end of the period there was a draw of the home team with Thomas Spinell. In the second period the game continued with a balanced one. Andreas Lutz (in powerplay) and Colin Long each scored a goal in just over a minute. Shortly after Markus Spinell served the puck to Stefan Quinz, who overcame the extreme defender from Val Gardena Misa Pietilä for the third time. The advantage will no longer be taken by the guests. Immediately after the game resumed, Rittner Buam closed the match with Olegs Sislannikovs, who took advantage of Henrik Eriksson's winning assist for the 4-2. For Lehtonen's team this is the fourth success in the same number of season's outings against Gardena.
