Squad updates in Linz, Feldkirch, Salzburg and Asiago

Four teams announced squad updates on Friday. While the Steinbach Black Wings Linz - with Henrik Neubauer - and the BEMER Pioneers Vorarlberg - with a duo from the Belfast Giants - signed new players, the EC Red Bull Salzburg and Migross Supermercati Asiago Hockey extended the contracts with important players.

Henrik Neubauer skates for Linz
The Steinbach Black Wings Linz have signed Henrik Neubauer as their first new signing for the 2024-25 season. The 27-year-old winger comes from the Swedish second division and thus brings international experience with him. Last season, he played for Västerviks IK, where he made 56 appearances. Neubauer, who has already made a name for himself in the Alps Hockey League and with the Austrian national team, should strengthen the offensive power of the Linz team. With his signing, the Steinbach Black Wings have acquired a versatile attacker.

Giants duo for Pioneers
The BEMER Pioneers Vorarlberg are strengthening their team with two Canadian players, Jacob Friend and Oliver Cooper, who both played for the Belfast Giants last season. Jacob Friend, a 26-year-old defenseman, was drafted by the Los Angeles Kings in 2016 and is known for his offensive skills and excellent passing. Oliver Cooper, a two-way forward, brings both offensive and defensive qualities. Last season he scored 9 goals and 12 assists for the Belfast Giants. Both players should help the Pioneers consolidate their position in the league.

Troy Bourke enters his third season with the Red Bulls
EC Red Bull Salzburg has extended the contract with Troy Bourke. The 30-year-old forward is entering his third season with the Red Bulls. Bourke, known for his stickhandling and vision, has been a key contributor to the team's success over the past two seasons. Despite injuries, he has consistently put in strong performances and was one of the top scorers in the playoffs. Last season he scored 19 goals and 48 points.

Gennaro faces second season with Asiago
Migross Supermercati Asiago Hockey has extended the contract of Matteo Gennaro, who is entering his second season with the northern Italian club. The 27-year-old Canadian comes from the Swedish second division and impressed last season with 18 goals and 21 assists in 47 games for Asiago. Gennaro was the team's second-highest points scorer.
