"Starting Six" All-Star Team from Hydro Fehérvár AV19

It was the fans' turn: among all the comments on Facebook and Instagram, they were supposed to nominate their "Starting Six" All-Star Team per club in the Erste Bank Eishockey Liga. Today we look at Hydro Fehérvár AV19, who have been part of the international league since the season 2007/08.

Zoltán Hetényi | 32 years | HUN | 2007 - 2011, 2014 - 2017 | Goalie
Zoltán Hetényi got the most fan votes on the goalie position. The 32-year-old Hungarian played for Fehérvár for nine years in total. Hetényi began his professional career with Chicago HC in the second Hungarian league. In 2002 he moved to Székesfehérvár. Until their entry into the Erste Bank Eishockey Liga, the seven-time Hungarian champion played in the IEL. Until the end of the 2011/12 season, the goalie was an integral part of Fehérvár. After that, Zoltán Hetényi was the first Hungarian to make the leap to the Finnish first division, to Jokerit. His foreign adventure also took him to the USA. For the 2014/15 season Hetényi returned to the Erste Bank Eishockey Liga, where he stood between the posts for Fehérvár until the end of the season 2017/18.

Antonin Manavian | 33 years | FRA | 2015 - 2018 | Defender
In the defence, the fans of Hydro Fehérvár AV19 voted the Frenchman Antonin Manavian into the team. The 33-year-old played a total of 193 games for the Hungarians between 2015 and 2018. However, Manavian spent most of his career in his native France, where he won the championship four times. The last time was in 2019 with Grenoble, where he also played to the very end.

Ric Jackman | 41 years | CAN | 2013 - 2014 | Defender
For one season, the Canadian Ric Jackman was in the squad of Hydro Fehérvár AV19. The name Jackman is a well-known name in the sport of ice hockey, so the transfer made big waves. The 41-year-old has been on the ice in the NHL a total of 238 times. In the season 2006/07 he even became Stanley Cup Champion with the Anaheim Ducks. After the greatest success a player can achieve in club ice hockey, Jackman then moved to Europe and joined EC Red Bull Salzburg. With further stopovers in Switzerland, Slovakia and South Korea, the defender finally ended up with Fehérvár. In 2013 he played 56 games for the Hungarians before he moved to Japan. Ric Jackman ended his career in 2017 with Fife Flyers in Scotland.

Gábor Ocskay| † 2009| HUN | 1993 - 2009 | Striker
Gábor Ocskay is surely the best known player at Hydro Fehérvár AV19, who played for the Hungarians throughout his career, from 1993 until his death in 2009. He was one of the best players in his country for many years and was also one of the key players for the Hungarian national team. The big shock for Ocskay came in 2004 when he was diagnosed with a heart muscle disease. But just four months after being diagnosed, he made his comeback. Born in Budapest, Ocskay played two seasons in the Erste Bank Eishockey Liga. He scored 27 goals in 97 games and prepared another 45 goals. On 25 March 2009, Gábor Ocskay died after a heart attack at the age of only 33 years. The Gábor Ocskay commemorative tournament was named after him. Meanwhile, the ice rink where Hydro Fehérvár AV19 plays is called Gábor Ocskay Jr. Ice Hall.

Frank Banham | 45 years | HUN/CAN | 2012 - 2016 | Striker
Canadian-born Frank Banham started his career in his home country and later moved to the USA. In 2001, the now 45-year-old left for Europe, where he remained until the end of his career. In the Erste Bank Eishockey Liga, Banham was active for EC Red Bull Salzburg, Olimpija Ljubljana and Medvescak Zagreb in addition to Fehérvár. Hydro Fehérvár AV19 was the right wing's last career stop, from 2012 to 2016. In a total of 526 games for the Hungarians, Banham scored 237 goals and prepared another 286 goals. This brought his total score to 523 points, which meant a point average of just under one.

Krisztián Palkovics| 45 years | HUN | 1993 - 2012 | Striker
Krisztián Palkovics was also elected to the all-star team of Fehérvár. The Hungarian striker spent his entire career with the Magyars. In total, he became Hungarian champion twelve times. In the Erste Bank Eishockey Liga, Palkovics stood on the ice 257 times, scoring 113 goals and preparing another 128 goals. In 2010, the now 45-year-old became Alternative Captain at Fehérvár. Palkovics ended his career in 2012 at the age of 33.
