After a career as a forward with EV Bruneck (1996-1999) and a job as coach with HC Pustertal in Serie A (2008-2011), Stefan Mair will return to the "Wolves" for the 2022/23 season in the win2day ICE Hockey League. For him, the years on the Rienz were also a starting signal for an international coaching career. After an intermezzo with Cortina, the 54-year-old led Schwenningen from the DEL2 to the DEL and the Italian national team through three World Championships. In 2016, Mair signed with HC Thurgau and enjoyed six very successful years with the Swiss second-division club.

"The decision to leave Thurgau was not easy for me. But after six years, it was time to look for a new challenge. Building something sustainable with HCP as a "new" team in the win2day ICE Hockey League - and the great and successful stadium - excites me immensely. I have great respect for this task and I am fully aware that there is a lot of work ahead of us. But I want to make a difference and give young, motivated players a concrete chance to play at this level in a professional league. I'm looking forward immensely to our new home, the many people I've known since my time as a player and coach - and the new arena. I will do everything I can to make the fans proud of our team," said the new coach.
