Regular Season champion Rittner Buam SkyAlps are in troubles in the semifinals against the Wipptal Broncos Weihenstephan. The "Buam" lost 2:4 in Sterzing on Tuesday, meaning that the Broncos have a 3:1 lead in the series and can secure their first ever place in the finals on Thursday. It was the third win in a row for the fourth-placed team of the Regular Season. In the second semifinal series between S.G. Cortina Hafro and the Red Bull Hockey Juniors, everything is tied after four games. On Tuesday, Cortina won 4:1 in Salzburg to level the series for the second time. It was the fourth away win in the fourth game. Player of the game was the US-American Tim Doherty with two goals. It was the 28-year-old's second brace in Cortina's kit. The forward only moved from the Cincinnati Cyclones (ECHL) to the Italians in January. Cortina had to go into overtime twice at home and lost both times. In game one, the decision was not even made until the 98th minute, making it the third-longest playoff game in AHL history; in semifinal three, the Young Bulls scored in the 72nd minute. The Salzburg team has already celebrated three away wins in a row in Cortina twice in AHL history.
