The Moser Medical Graz99ers defended their lead in the win2day ICE Hockey League standings on Friday - but had a lot of work to do. HC Innsbruck took a 2:0 lead in the sixth minute with a brace by Klassek and Mackin. Captain Holzer scored for the hosts early in the second period and the Styrians now dominated proceedings on the ice. As a result Ticar (37') equalised with a powerplay goal. The 99ers turned the game in their favour in the final period, with Gooch making it 3:2.

HCB Südtirol Alperia remains second, as the Bolzano side beat the third-placed team from Ljubljana 5:2. After the visitors took an early lead through Hults, Pance equalised before the first period break. The score remained 1:1 until the 48th minute, when Finoro and Bradley scored within 81 seconds to make it 1:3. Olimpija came close again briefly, but another double strike ensured the final decision in HCB's favour.

Pustertal with comeback win in Salzburg
After the CHL victory in Växjö, EC Red Bull Salzburg suffered a setback in the league. The home side were 4:1 ahead after 30 minutes in what was already the second duel of the season against HC Pustertal, thanks to a hat-trick from Troy Bourke. The South Tyroleans fought back and were rewarded for their efforts: Findlay equalised in the 49th minute with his second goal of the evening. With the score at 5:5, the game went into overtime and then the shootout had to decide. New signing Svedberg and Frycklund scored to give HCP the win.

Caps celebrate first home win
The spusu Vienna Capitals moved into the top six with a 2:1 home win over Asiago. After Willms (17th) put the home side ahead with his first goal of the season, the fans in the STEFFL Arena were able to cheer again in the 49th minute when Franklin made it 2:0. Tanner reduced the deficit just 36 seconds later, but the Caps held on to their narrow lead and celebrated their first home win of the season.

VSV leaves the bottom of the table
EC iDM Wärmepumpen VSV handed the last place to the Pioneers Vorarlberg in a direct duel. Villach initially went three ahead in this game, but the visitors equalised three times. In the 59th minute, however, the home side were able to celebrate for a fourth time. After the Vorarlberg team blocked two shots, the puck ended up with Holway, who did not miss the chance. Maxa scored his second goal via an empty netter to make it 5:3.
