Due to numerous absences for the Tyroleans, the 37-year-old was unexpectedly in the Kitzbühel squad - and promptly impressed with two remarkable assists. In the end, the “Eagles” were only narrowly defeated by the Rittner Buam SkyAlps 5:6 after extra time.

Adler Stadtwerke Kitzbühel provided a big surprise on Tuesday when Rafael Rotter appeared in Head Coach Marco Pewal's squad. As Niklas Wetzl, Jakob Lippitsch, Anthony DeLuca, Jannik Fröwis and Alexander Schmidt were unable to make the trip to Klobenstein due to injury, the actual assistant coach moved from the bench to the defense. The 37-year-old hockey legend delivered a strong performance after a month-long break and made two remarkable assists.

“That was not only surprising, but also tough for me. But it was really great fun to play with the boys,” said the Viennese. For Rotter, who was still a player for Kitzbühel last season, it was his first appearance since March 2, 2024.
