Kelsey Tessier (#90) of spusu Vienna Capitals was involved in an incident deemed as  Slew-Footing (IIHF Rule 160) in the road-game in Graz on Friday, March 1st 2019, time 36:44. The video evidence was sent to the EBEL Player Safety Committee (PSC), which determined the incident to be worthy of supplementary discipline - Category 2 - 'Reckless'. According to the Arbitrator and having considered the video evidence and ruling of the Erste Bank Eishockey Liga PSC, player Kelsey Tessier (#90) of spusu Vienna Capitals, will receive supplementary discipline under rule 160 – Slew-Footing.

On March 1st in Graz, an incident occurred involving Kelsey Tessier, deemed slew-footing. The incident was sent to the EBEL PSC and determined supplementary discipline is required. Graz 99ers, (#91) Oliver Setzinger entered the attacking zone with puck possession. As Oliver Setzinger crossed the attacking blue line and into the zone, he cut to the middle slot where he let up on his skating and drop passed the puck. Following the play, Kelsey Tessier is in pursuit of Oliver Setzinger.
When Oliver Setzinger let up on skating, Kelsey Tessier approached from a back side angle. Instead of making a legal body check or a regard for the puck, Kelsey Tessier resorted to an illegal tactic in the form of a slew-foot.
The reason for supplementary discipline is the slew-foot occurred from behind with a right leg sweep, propelling Oliver Setzinger in a dangerous manner backwards. Kelsey Tessier extended his right leg out, used his upper body in an opposite direction of the leg sweep (visible by following his stick motion) and propelled Oliver Setzinger back dangerously where his head hit the ice. This is deemed a slew-foot which is defined as "a player who recklessly kicks an opponent’s skate from behind or who recklessly pulls an opponent backwards while at the same time knocking or kicking his feet from under him".
Effective immediately, Kelsey Tessier is suspended for 2 games.
