28.12.2017: HDD SIJ Acroni Jesenice – EC-KAC II 7:1 (2:1,4:0,1:0)
HDD SIJ Acroni Jesenice was the chief on the ice (55:17-shots) against EC-KAC II. The Slovenes scored three times two goals within a few minutes: Tavzelj (7.) and Jezovsek (9.) gave their team a quick 2:0-lead within just 80 seconds. Late in the first period Klagenfurt used one of their chances to score the 1:2. After the re-start the hosts were not to stop anymore (21:5-shots) and added four goals from Logar, Basic, Brus and Kalan. In the end the Slovenes won 7:1.
28.12.2017: EC „Die Adler“ Stadtwerke Kitzbühel – FBI VEU Feldkirch 2:3 (0:1,1:2,1:0)
EC „Die Adler“ Stadtwerke Kitzbühel and FBI VEU Feldkirch searched their luck in the offense (43:40-shots).The guests took better advantage from their chances first and got a 3:0-lead thanks goals from Draschkowitz (14./pp), Tikkinen (30.) and Stanley (38.). The Eagles didn‘t give up: In a Power Play Lidström quickly made the 1:3 (40.), then (47.) Wirl added the 2:3. There was still 14 minutes to play at Kitzbühel, but Alex Caffi allowed no more goals, he had 16 saves in period 3!
28.12.2017: EC Bregenzerwald – EHC Alge Elastic Lustenau 5:1 (0:0,0:1,5:0)
The game went up and down in the first period, but both goalies - Rämö and Pietilä – were not to beat. Finally in minute 24 EHC Alge Elastic Lustenau took the lead: Stastny took advantage of a mistake in the ECB defense and scored through Pietilä legs. After the halftime both teams had a Power Play, but couldn‘t use it. The Lions started period three in a Power Play, but the goal was made by the „Wälder“: Captain Christian Ban passed to his brother Daniel, who beat Rämos with a placed shot. Then the guests tried to answer, but they could not beat Pietilä anymore. On the other side Daniel Ban was not to stop and added two more goals – 3:1. Now the Wälder were ahead and added in minute 57 two more goals from Marcel Wolf and Maximilian Egger within 19 seconds.
28.12.2017: HK SZ Olimpija – Red Bull Hockey Juniors 4:1 (0:0,1:0,3:1)
In the final home game of 2017 HK SZ Olimpija welcomed Red Bull Hockey Juniors from Salzburg to Tivoli hall. Duel was played extremely fair with both teams combined only making three fouls for a total of eight penalty minutes. All of them came in the final period. First one saw some nice chances on each side. Both goalies were on their best each saving twelve shots. The breakthrough for Olimpija did come in 25th minute thanks to Gal Koren. Olimpijas right winger stroke again early in the third on the power play. The dragons controlled the game, killed a penalty and even got a double power play with some six minutes to go. But in the process they made a mistake and Julian Klöckl made them pay. Still the hosts had an answer ready right away. It took defender Andraz Zibelnik just 31 seconds to restore a two goals lead. With 90 seconds to go junior bulls tried to change the tide without a goalie. But it was to no avail. In the end Maks Selan beat the buzzer for a final score of 4:1.
28.12.2017: WSV Sterzing Broncos Weihenstephan - HC Neumarkt Riwega 7:2 (2:1; 3:1; 2:0)
Tommy Kruselburger was the only absence of home team. On the other side of the rink, Tobias Brighenti was absent for the visitors. During the first minutes of play it didn’t happen a lot with the boths formations waited for the opponent's moves. During the first powerplay of the Broncos, in the middle of the first period, the score changed. Defender Giffen Nyren built a nice action deep into the opposing defense and then served the puck to Denny Deanesi who made no mistake in the front of the slot. The same Deanesi then hit the crossbar. Vipiteno played in the attack: Luca Felicetti didn’t succeed after a pass of Mark Lee. Then there was the break of the Wild Geese: Joseph Harcharik serve a backward pass for the shot of Alex Sullmann who scored a draw. But the Broncos took again the lead before the end of the first half still in powerplay. The winning pass was still of Giffen Nyren who charged the shot from the distance and he found the deflection of Deanesi for 2: 1 of the hosts. During the second period the Sterzing increased the advantage after 2 minutes of play. Fabian Hackhofer realized with a great shot from the blue line in powerplay. Then the Broncos took the control but shortly after in the the Neumarkt returned to the game: Ondrej Nedved shoted from the distance but the puck is deflected into the net by the stick of a player of the hosts. The Broncos reacted as they played always in attack zone. Daniel Morandell saved the result. Then in the last minutes of the second period the Sterzing was rewarded by the many efforts with the goal of Jure Sotlar (great personal action) and then with Radovan Gabri. During the third time the Sterzing no longer run the risks as they scored two other goals with Ben Duffy and Jure Sotlar. The Broncos won 7:2 as they earned the second consecutive victory.
28.12.2017: HC Fassa Falcons - HC Pustertal Wölfe 2:6 (1:1; 1:1; 0:4)
After the suspension Nick Bruneteau returned to play for Bruneck while Daniel Erlacher e David Laner were absent. The Brunico started very strong as they put a lot of pressure on the opponent's net. Minute after minute, however, the game became more balanced. In the middle a penalty whistled to Simon Berger, it allowed to the Fassa to get in attack. When the teams returned to play at full strenght, there was the goal in backhand of Jari Monferone after a great shot by Eetu Heikkinen. The game became very fought but before of the end of the period there were a draw of visitors thanks to a strong shot from a central position by Nick Bruneteau. During the second period the game was always balanced. The Pustertal returned to the lead with a shot under the crossbar of Armin Helfer in powerplay situation. But Fassa reacted as they played for the draw. Before the end of the second period there was a tie by Sebastiano Soracreppa in powerplay situation. Even at the beginning of the third time the game was very balanced. It was difficult to see the 32 points of difference in the standings beetwen the two teams. The Falcons built many actions but Bruneck returned to the lead after a big mistake by the Falcons. The goal was signed still by the veteran Armin Helfer with a shot from the blue line (46.). The Falcons accused the new punch of Wolves and then literally collapsed in the final where they suffered three goals in just over a minute by Patrick Bona, Max Oberrauch and Simon Berger. Val Pusteria won on the road for 6:2 as they earned the third consecutive victory.
28.12.2017: Rittner Buam - S.G. Cortina Hafro 4:3/SO (0:1,2:2,1:0,0:0,1:0)
Once again the Cortina was the only team that could put in the trouble the AHL leaders on the ice of the Ritten Arena. As last October 25, the formation of Cortina torned a point to Renon who won 4:3 after shutout at the end of a very spectacular and hard fought math in which the goalkeepers have distinguished (especially Marco De Filippo). For the third time this season Cortina lost after the shutotut. The Rittner Buam maintained three points of advantage in the Alps Hockey League on runners-up Asiago while in the ranking of IHL Elite (Group A South), Klobstein's team was in third place (3 points) behind Val Pusteria (5 points) and the same Cortina (4 points) while Fassa was at zero point. For the Ritten were absent Andreas Alber, Max Ploner and Johannes Fauster while in the Cortina were absent Luca Zandonella and Federico Adami (cheekbone broke in the last game). The visitors started in attack and after eight minutes they gained the first advantage thanks to Andrea Moser. The first period closed with the Cortina ahead of a goal. The game, as mentioned, was balanced and with continuous actions on one side and the other. Before the middle of the game, it was Oscar Ahlström's equalizer, which scored 1: 1. Eight minutes later the Cortina again took the lead. The AHL topscorer, Zachary Torquato, turned an assist by Riley Brace for 2: 1. The joy of the Ampezzani lasted only 78 seconds, when Alex Frei, once again in powerplay, realized the new tie (2:2). Shortly after the Cortina scored again with Andrea Moser, who overcame Patrick Killeen for the third time. The Ritten didn’t give up as the defender Andrea Lutz overtook with a nice action Marco De Filippo for 3:3. Then the home team controlled the game, but nothing happened anymore and so this challenge went to extra time, but where neither team found the winning goal. As two days ago against the Pustertal, the shutout are decided the game of Ritten. Here the Ritten demonstrated all his experience: Victor Ahlström scored the decisive penalty for the final 4: 3. The Renon returned to the victory after two consecutive defeats.
28.12.2017: HC Gherdeina valgardena.it - Migross Supermercati Asiago Hockey 5:6 (3:3; 1:3; 1:0)
The Gherdeina will have to give up for the rest of the season to Colin Long who in the last game suffered a lesion of the ligaments of a knee. Samuel Moroder and Joel Brugnoli were also absent for the home team. The first period of the match was characterized by attacks and penalties with the creation of six goals (3 per side), including 4 in powerplay. Gherdeina gained the first goal thanks to Florian Moroder. Then there was the Asiago reaction that in just over two minutes extended the opponents with three goals by Marco Rosa (powerplay), Alex Gellert (powerplay) and Matteo Tessari. But after four minutes immediate reaction of the Furies who equalized in 29 seconds with two goals in 2-man advantage with Derek Eastman and Benjamin Kostner. But the Asiago in the second period was more determined and before of the middle, they returned to be concrete in attack with the goals of Phil Pietroniro, Anthony Bardaro and Michael Sullivan (powerplay). From here, the Gherdeina didn’t give up as they tried to get back into the game. Before the end of the second was Gabriel Senoner to shorten the distances. Then during the last period, despite many efforts, the Gherdeina scored only one goal with Andreas Vinatzer. The Asiago won the seventh game in a row and after two rounds was leader of the Group B South of Elite IHL equal to Vipiteno with six points. The Gherdeina lost the second consecutive match after Christmas.
